So if Pacquiao and Marquez could no longer make 140 lbs and had to go straight up to 147 lbs and Cotto beat them, he'd be the p4p No.1?

Yes as he has just beaten the p4p number 1 and 2 and they are the same size as him

That was supposed to be a rhetorical question, but there are always some people, I guess. If Pacquiao and Marquez fought at 160 lbs next and were beaten by Mundine, say, that would make Mundine the p4p No.1, according to you. Just thought I'd let you know, because you clearly don't see the implications of your own views.

Like I said its debatable.I never said Tsyzu was shot.I said he wasn't prime and he wasn't I think that it generally accepted.I think Cotto edges Hatton in this dept

The statement underlined is bull****.Its not as though Mosley has improved between the Cotto loss and now. When he fought Cotto he was already the fighter that he is now,a 3 weight world champ and an elite fighter. He is higher in the p4p ranking now because of the win over Margarito, not because he has improved and become a better fighter.A case could be made for the oppposite based on his slack performance vs Mayorga

So far you have said hatton would have to fight guys like williams who is pretty much getting on towards midleweight to be p4p number 1 which is just silly. You have also made a poll to back up you;re theory but so far most people don't agree with you.:hi:

I'm talking p4p top 10. Mosley wasn't in it. Tzsyu was top 3.

Cotto has never beaten a champion for a belt. He beats people for vacant belts. He has never been considered 'the man' at any weight.

Beating PAc will bring him back to top 3-4.

If he beat Mosley afterward he will have a case for 1-2 depending on Marquez. But if he beats Marquez next he will have stronger case for #1 without fighting anybody else because Mosley isn't in top 3 now and Hopkins probably lose to Adamek.

However if Marquez wins once more (say Valero or Guzman type) and/or Hopkins beat Adamek and not retire then Hatton will not have a chance to become #1, no matter who he beats.

If Hatton has only a handful of fights left I would say he would need to beat Pacquiao, the winner of Cotto/Clottey (if it happens) or better yet, Shane Mosley and then Mayweather again, which after all those victories and the money Ricky brings, Floyd would come back.

In fairness, look who Hatton has beat for his belts-Urango,Maussa,Collazo in a fight he probably lost and Tsyzu who was past prime.
There records are very similar thats why I want these two to settle it in the ring.It would be a great fight.Cotto has a more solid record over the two weight divisions.Hatton has a very dubious win and got KO'd when he stepped up in weight.Cotto holds wins over Urkal,Quintana,Mosley and Judah at 147 on top of his success at 140.The last 2 mentioned are good wins. The Tszyu win is a great one for Hatton. It is close but I give Cotto the slight edge. The best names on Hattons slate are past prime

I'm even thinking of adding this to my prayer list at night

ps: I think Marquez is 2 small and a Hatton win over him wouldn't mean much to me. Marquez is one of my favorite fighters, but I think Hatton stops him early.

Hatton squeaked past Collazo, who it has been noted can hang with top welters. (ok with 2 hands)

you can just as easily make Cotto look bad.. He nearly got KO'd by Torres who is a overrated banger. Close close win over Mosely, who at the time was considered nearly shot. Margo pounded his face into a bloody mess. Paulie, who hatton stopped took 4 rounds from cotto.

Cotto looked impressive against Gomez and Jennings. Not top tier fighters. Cotto has never fought a champion for his belt and taken it.

Maybe you'll be satisfied if Cotto fights and beats Clottey for his IBF belt??If this occurs, there shouldn't be too much doubt about it.Agree?Although a win over Pac would throw a spanner in the works
