who would hatton have to beat to go p4p no1?

If Hatton beats Pac Cotto is even further away from Hatton IMO Clottey would be an alright win but nothing on this level. Clottey aint a top 10 p4p fighter and never will be.

 

So what would Cotto have to do then if beating an actual belt holder for a belt isn't good enough??I agree a win over Pac for Hatton is better than a W over Clottey is for Cotto.
What if Hatton loses to Pacman and Cotto beats Clottey since you said about Cotto not beating any belt holders.Would you then give credit to Cotto for having the better resume.It seems as though it will take alot for you to give him credit for that

 

No I think it's close between the two of them, Hatton has the edge for me at the minute. Margo loss for Cotto hurt him badly IMO.. getting stopped by someone who wasn't near top 10 p4p. Anyway, if Hatton loses and Cotto wins, Cottos resume stands up better and probably surpasses Hattons. But it still would be very close.

 

Agree that it is indeed very close between them.Cottos resume was boosted when Mosley beat Margarito in that fashion and I think that win may be on a par with that of KT.Who knows.I want this fight to happen bad

 

you say a prime p4p fighter, maybe, but he has 2 wins over p4p fighters (p4p #3 and p4p #'8) cotto has none. and cotto hasn't even fought a defending champion yet he's only fought for vacant titles.

 

According to some posters here who like to pretend they are reasonable people and boxing fans to boot, if Ruiz beat Pacquiao and Marquez at heavyweight, he would become the p4p No.1, because he's just beaten the p4p No.1 and No.2.

the very fact that Roach has said Pac won't be able to fight under 140 again makes this fight more than equal. And with Pac being a clear favorite its not to hard to imagine some will place Hatton above him.

 

Thats just stupid:roll:, pacman has now fought above 140 and can't make below 135 so he is a 140 plus fighter just because he started young and drained alot of weight doesn't make him tiny people grow into different weights. These fighters have wins around the weight not a weight miles apart unlike what you are talking about.

 

a win over clottley isn't nothing special, cotto should be expected to beat fighters on that level. if cotto could beat mosely convingly in a rematch it would help. cotto's is possibly not even in the top 3 Welterweights if williams is still gonna fight at 147. i would fancy williams to beat him, and margo and mosely to beat him in rematches.

 

A win over Pac will automatically catapult Hatton to #5 or #4...

If he defeats JMM... an equation to a never ending story will be put into agenda; being that JMM is really not a JWW nor was Pac does diminishing whatever grounds Hatton may have gained...In such scenario, Hatton may then be ranked somewhere in the top #2...

Hatton still need to beat a legitimate title holder at JWW to be proclaimed the #1 P4P...

All in all, he needs at least 3 fights to be No#1...

 

I agree. I dont think he has what it takes to move up to 147 and fight a few guys there. If he fights Pac and JMM and wins (which i doubt) id consider him pfp#1 since mayweather (hopefully) isnt coming back.

As I said earleir,Tszyu aside,Hatton has won his belts from average opposition and then theres the dubious W over Collazo aswell

 

He would beat Mosley in a rematch and possibly Margarito aswell.I say he is the best at 147 if you consider PW a LMW/MW as I do.He hasn't been active at 147 like the others and there'll come a time when he'll struggle to make 147 surely.Cotto certainly isn't #4 in the WW division.A win over Clottey would prove more than a win over Hatton IMO.That makes it look like a bad fight for Cotto to take although it'd be a great one for the fans.Its win/win for Hatton
