I asked this question in the "Take Hagler & Leonard out of the picture" thread and got nada.

Who would have been in the Olympics if Sugar Ray Leonard didn't go?

Im fairly certain its Bruce Curry he beat in the Olympic trial final...Therefore it surely would have been Bruce that got to go instead of him.

But I cant recall if Ray beat him again in the boxoff or they just didnt have it..or maybe Bruce didnt go and someone went in his place.

Yeah, you're right it was Bruce Curry.
(I think Leonard beat Shields in an earlier stage of that competition. I muddled them up.)
I dont know about the box-off.

Bruce Curry was the runner up in the trials.

Randy Shields beat Leonard in the amatuers but turned pro before the 76 games.

Probably Bruce Curry or Ronnie Shields. It was said that Leonard lost to Shields by forfeit in the Golden Gloves that year.
