If the cut that caused the td in the 8th round had not occurred, would Randall iyo have come back to defeat chavez a second time? Chavez was ahead at that time according to the score card s but still time for frankie to come back. Or would chav have pulled of f this win.?

Actually Chavez was not winning that fight. It was a war and very even. That fight was so low as they stole the fight from Randall in despicable fashion and Chavez refused to give him a rubber match till Randall was shot. Despicable.

Randall was ahead in the eyes of most observers.

There is a 90% chance Randall would have won if the cut hadn't happened.

Randall dominated the 7 th and 8th rounds. Chavez was valiantly trading with him but getting the worst of it.

Chavez had tried moving and boxing after being staggered in the 2nd round by a single right hand.

His boxing was effective but he started slowing down in the 6th round. He couldn't keep up that strategy for the whole fight.

There should have been a 3rd fight as most observers felt Randall was screwed.

The fact that D. King never made that match indicates to me that he felt Chavez escaped and wouldn't win a 3rd fight. He steared him clear of Randall and milked Chavez successfully for a few more years - something he probably could not have done if Chavez did not have a world title.

Same here. I thought chavez was officially ahead, so when the fight was stopped he got the td verdict. I'm a fan of chavez but that fight pissed me off because of the way it ended. It should have been ruled a nd and then a immediate rematch.

Spot on there. Randall should have got a rematch. Well he did but fifty years later? But if the fight had gone ahead Randall would have won a decision, if he wasn't robbed.

Randall would have won the re-match.
