He would struggle more with Lewis. Lewis is the better fighter. But, on his best day, Larry is likely to beat both.

Lewis i'd say. Much more in his locker than Vitali.

I'm a big Holmes fan. I have seen almost all of his filmed fights, and rank him #2 overall. I rank Lewis in my top 4, and Vitali in my top #5-7 spots.

Holmes was the champion with perhaps the fewest amount of flaws in his game to exploit, but he could get nailed by right hands from time to time.

So you could say, Lewis would be harder for him to beat because he had the better right hand and was the better in-fighter.

BUT, Lewis did not have a defense like Vitali had ( Lewis could be out jabbed ), nor was he as active in terms of punch output, and his chin could be unreliable so you could also say, Vitali.

Its a tough fight for Holmes, but winnable vs. either opponent.

One thing on Vitali that few focus on. He never lost more than three consensus rounds on any score card...ever in his entire career. He was that hard to outbox. A 6'7 1/2 " a tall giant, who throws a lot, moves well, had good punch anticipation/reflexes, and could land at odd angles.

He loses to both. His best weapons the jab, where he would be outgunned badly.

You don't think he would beat either, do you? I thought you were more of a size recognizing modernist? Holmes especially, in these matchups, I just can't see.

Lewis has more strings to his bow(e).

Plus he had that right hand Holmes was vulnerable to.

He jabs vitalis head off. Show me vitali using head movement, parrying, or countering a good jab with an overhand right and ill rethink my response. Were talking about the top 3 ATG best jab at heavy ever, if not #1. Vitalis defense never impressed me, especially considerin his opposition. I will say however that vitali wasnt an idiot and was hard to outbox.

Lewis is quite the challenge. Not only is there the reach and height issues, he himself also has an underrated ATG jab and high ring iq, power, punch selection, etc. The only thing id worry about for lewis is occasionally he showed up lethargic, passive, and out of shape. Lewis was also susceptible to right cross and didnt have the best chin, so if holmes is getting outboxed he may be able to take lewis out with a good counter. I wouldnt bet on it tho.

Overall lewis would be harder to beat, but vitalis physical assets and chin make for a frustrating task.

Lewis the more dangerous. It's hard to ko a prime holmes, that's why it never happened, but a oldish shavers nearly got there.

Lewis is the better technical boxer he has all the tools and he can deliver them with almost perfection
Lewis would be the harder challenge for Holmes
vitali is tough has a granite chin, crude but effective offense but Holmes would figure him out and outpoint him by a slight margin still a very tough fight
Lewis is a different puzzle that fight is very hard to call
