The Super Middleweight division is so incredibly deep that even though Showtime gathered 6 of the weight-class's best to a great tourney (Kessler, Froch, Ward, Abraham, Dirrell, Taylor), another network could pull a 6-fighter tournament of his own. Of course it will never happen, but let's just say the magicial 'what if'. Let's see the fighters, version #1: - Lucian Bute, IBF - Karoly Balzsay, WBO - Sakio Bika, IBO (former The Contender champ) - Librado Andrade (fighting Bute anyway) - Allan Green - Jean Pascal (champ at LHW, would move back down) Version #2, needs a little imagination - Lucian Bute, IBF - Karoly Balzsay, WBO - Sakio Bika, IBO - Chad Dawson, (LHW champ, moving down) - Kelly Pavlik, (MW champ, moving up) - Librado Andrade, (fighting Bute anyway) Rules are the same of the Showtime tournament: 9-fight first 3 rounds, a semi-final and a final, with Bute-Andrade II being the 1st fight of the tourney. Who wound win a 2nd tournament? (pick a winner for both versions). Also, who would win between Showtime's and this tournament?
pride is right. And anyways an 8man tournament is alot better than 6 showtimes blundered on this one.
First one either Bute or Balzsay. They fought several times with each other in the amateurs and as far as I know Balzsay won those fights. Now Bute is more experienced as a pro fighter. The second version... I don't know how strong Dawson could be in SMW. IMO Pavlik has the better chance to win.
My memory, if not mistaking, tells me they fought twice. Balsay won the first time, Bute the second time.
Bute would win against Balzsay. Amateur is one thing, pro is another. Bute-Dawson-Pascal would be my pick.
