ok, I'm not gonna include Cooper, Cooney or Rodriguez as they were, in the case of Cooper and Rodriguez, active fighters with a few decent results left in them. I omit Cooney due to his inactivity. So i shall concentrate on the opposition up till the Holyfield fight - the only guys i shall include after Holyfield will be Jimmy Ellis and Grimsley.

Charles Hostetter, Tom Trimm, Frank Lux, Bob Hitz, Manuel De Almedia - regional level guys who got stopped by pretty much anybody with a pulse. Hostetter, Trimm, Lux (a former MW). Almedia, I'll give him his due, was a tough guy who didnt go over easily.

Zouski, Crabtree, Tim Anderson, Jaco, Mijangos, Young, Williamson, Jameson, Lakusta, Ellis, Grimsley - all known journeymen, the likes of Crabtree, Jaco, Ellis and Mijangos capable of the occasional upset. These guys are a step up from the previous group and their names can be found on the records of most of the leading HWs of the era

Sekorski, Trane, Hernandez, Fulilangi, Big Foot Martin, Terry Anderson - probably the best of the bunch. Sekorski came to fight and took some huge shots and was never off his feet. Hernandez was a game journeyman and pretty fearless. Martin a top class spoiler and Anderson was, at one time regarded as a prospect (tho not by the time he fought GF)

So, in this mish mash of pugilists who comes out on top?

i think the 1st group get beaten by all of the others tho i would give Almedia half a chance with Mijangos and maybe Jimmy Ellis. Mijangos was notoriously chinny and Ellis couldnt get out of the way of punches.

The 2nd group, well , all could pretty much beat each other on any given night as there is not much between the majority of them - Crabtree and Jaco can cause the odd shock, Zouski (in '87) was a reasonably solid guy. Grimsley had power at these lower levels so could do ok for a while.

Group 3 - Nothing much between Sekorski, Trane, Hernandez for me. Martin a world class spoiler who majority of the time was in sparring mode, Fulilangi made a habit of feasting on lower level guys, as did Anderson.

I reckon Fulilangi comes out on top in the win/loss ratio. Terry Anderson may do ok too.
The most proven of the lot , Big Foot Martin, had tendancy to go to sleep - that said he should win a lot more than he loses against this crowd.

Sekorski v Grimley would have been a good match - I'd pick Sekorski

If you could get Martin to not fight like a sparriing partner I'd probably favor him

Martin was certainly the most accomplished of the guys mentioned but i could see him getting outhustled by Fulilangi, who, at this level wasnt a bad fighter.......if a little undersized. Of course, Tony was out of his depth v Cooper and Foreman but could have featured in some good action fights against this sort of level of opposition
