Would Shavers have too much power? Would Moore outbox him? Could Shavers take Moore`s power despite his weak chin?

You didn’t give a voting option for shavers outboxing Moore and winning a decision...any reason?

He couldn`t box at all but I`ll add it because of his reach advantage, thanks.

Oh I don’t think he could outbox Moore either....but someone may. Shavers and his power are both vastly overrated contrasted with what he did in real life IMO

Moore out boxes him for the win. May get floored once or twice but he’d get up.

Moore would knock him out. Hed take him into deep water and drown him. Way too smart and crafty for Shavers and no slouch in the power dept either.

Yep. Earnie dipped to throw. He telegraphed what he was going to do. Hell, I even saw it at his fights. An old smart guy like Archie would set his traps and Earnie would fall for one and then a finisher like Moore gets him out of there.

Shavers, Quarry & Moore all about the same height.
    Shavers>Moore>Quarry in reach.
    Shavers>Moore>/=Quarry in prime fighting weight.

Moore had planned to, and worked on, hitting the Rock with a big right hand early.
In the real fight he did and put Rocky down.

For Moore to win, he has to get shavers "respect" early...to be able to outbox Shavers over 10 rounds.

Quarry had the huevos to stand in and duke it out with a bigger Shavers.

1973-12-14 : Jerry Quarry 202 lbs beat Earnie Shavers 210 lbs by TKO at 2:21 in round 1 of 10
"Jerry Quarry, 202, disdaining the shouted instructions of his handler, Gil Clancy, to "box him, Jerry, box him," instead elected to slug it out with the 210 lb. Earnie Shavers. A minute and a half into the round Quarry caught Shavers against the ropes and hit him eight or nine times, belting freely with lefts and rights to the head. Shavers escaped and fled to Quarry's corner where Jerry caught him with a tremendous left and dropped him with a following right. Shavers barely beat the count and Quarry immediately swarmed all over him. Referee Arthur Mercante called a halt at 2:21 of the 1st round." -United Press International

    • "Well, Quarry just caught me a good shot early, and I just never recovered. When he finally knocked me down, I should have stayed down and taken the count. But the round was almost over and I thought I could last the final seconds." -Earnie Shavers
    • "Quarry surprised me by mixing it up with Shavers. Quarry showed me he's really a tiger." -George Foreman

Moore teaches him a thorough boxing lesson over 11 rounds. 1 of 2 things could happen: he makes one teeny weeny mistake and pays dearly for it, or he gets off the floor and closes the show.

Either way no way in hell shavers outboxes the old mongoose. Idk y thats even an option. Its unlikely, but far more plausible shavers goes for broke and manages to blast moore out in the first 2 rounds. Norton and ellis were skilled boxers, both of whom had more success at hw than moore gaining the title and shavers disposed of them both.

Moore winning by stoppage isnt impossible either. He did drop rocky and shavers tended to freeze when nailed hard. Moore would surrly notice this weakness and apply all kinds of pressure (cautiously).

They'd probably need a best of 3 honestly. Too many variables. Gun to my head, id say moore wins 65% of the time.

Moore hands down. Such an amazing fighter. Hit hard, amazing defense and excellent footwork = one of the most complete fighters ever.

8 times out of 10 Moore beats him. No doubt about it.

Wow Shavers really had a weak chin, after seeing this I feel Moore could have stood close and easily slipped his shots and then KO him, Shavers was awful in that bout.
