Yes I understand, but any heavyweight in history could get blasted by Shavers , and Moore definitely could get knocked out cold by Shavers. Everyone who faced Shavers had the same feeling about Shavers power. Only point I was making was that version of Ali, though he won the fight was on his very last legs, and should've retired 2-3 yrs earlier. And in my Opnion prime Ali would've literally toyed with Shavers. And I believe prime Moore wouldn't have to much of a problem beating Shavers also. Shavers looping and telegraphed punches would've made him a punching bag for Ali and his speed and reflexes. Or a fighter like Moore who could counter with the best of them. They were both all wrong for Shavers in their primes.....

I don`t think Shavers could have taken all the shots Moore took off Marciano, the punch Quarry first hurt Shavers with didn`t look that hard at all.

Hmm? so Moore,,,,a light heavyweight, is going to stay in the pocket with the acknowledged hardest puncher in heavyweight history. for about 2 rounds I'd say. Moore wasn't that big a puncher at heavyweight, and he didn't move much, he caught Rock at the right time in that fight, and Marciano wasn't that hurt. I'd say Walcott hurt Rocky much worse

Yes, Walcott punched harder than Moore, his back was extremely muscular.

Think about this ( and its proven hundreds of times over the yrs in boxing) Where would you want to be with a huge puncher, and esp a puncher who winds his punches , at the end of the shot were the fighter has full power, or close, were even it lands it hasn't gained full power? Also since that opponent is telegraphing what he's doing what is the best counter range close or mid range were the opponent can be consistently beaten to the punch, or long rang were countering effectively is minimized unless the fighter has the foot speed of R.Jones, Ali, or prime Camacho Sr. And if Moore at 41 yrs old was capable of dropping Marciano, what could prime Moore have done? And esp against Shavers who didn't take punches as well as Marciano.

Not much of a guage there. The Norton camp had been avoiding Earnie for a long time. The only reason they took the fight was the winner got a Holmes fight. Without the title shot, the Norton camp avoids Earnie.

Shavers had a glass chin when facing heavyweights. Archie Moore isn't a heavyweight. Archie Moore had a glass chin when facing anybody. Shavers would brutally KO Moore in less than a round.

Or Moore was up and down many times vs just a merely good light heavy in Durelle. One good one from Shavers and its over.

Maybe but Moore was a better light heavy than Shavers was at heavywweight, Moore was awesome at 175. P4P there`s no arguement.

Watch Quarry vs Shavers, where was Quarry? Right in the pocket, repeatedly beating Shavers to the punch, then he stopped him. 1st rd. Ko. Norton had a history of folding against big punchers, not a great example. Norton did not possess the skill of prime Moore at no point in his career. Case rebuttal.....

The Mongoose biggest losses at HW were in the twilight of his career. Moore at his cagey best beats Shavers on pts.

I think you’re selling Kenny a bit short here. You’ve got to have had a high level of skill to have had three highly competitive and close scoring distance fights with Muhammad Ali as well as a disputed 15 round split decision loss against a peaking Larry Holmes, when Norton himself was probably past his best.
