Btw, I think that Pavlik will be easier to hurt going to the body than the other way around. Uli Wegner trains some good body punching (most of Beyer's KOs came due to body punches - he also broke one of Kessler's rib) and will work out a strategy for AA to go to the body early on. This might be one of those fights where AA tries to go on the inside and trying to work Pavlik's body without creating much space Kelly's full-leverage shots. AA would be also hard to clinch for Pavlik due to AA's armlength. late in the second half of the fight (about round 9,10), AA will be more his usual self, using the in-and-out game as Kelly will get more and more off-balance. I could really see Kelly tiring out and hitting the canvas for good when he tries to protect his rib-cage and AA counters with a short right. Though, lets see how AA handles his condition vs. the workrate-monster Pavlik is, as he could very well tire-out himself and don't have the power to KO Kelly late.
Either AA by ko or tko or Pavlik by point decision. AA has the edge in firepower IMO,but Pavlik is the more active fighter in the ring + AA tends to lose most of the first few rounds due to his usual inactivity
I'm a big fan of both boxers, but I would like to see them in the ring together. I see this fight 60/40 in favour of Pavlik. His workrate and height might do the difference on the scorecards. Abraham gives to much rounds away by being to passive. But he would have a good chance to win by stoppage. Pavlik surely can take a punch. He eat some respectable shots from Miranda and survived a ciritcal situation against Taylor. But he hasn't an ironchin. He could be knocked out (Abraham surely, too) and his defense his not as tight as AA's.
Pavlik UD, i just see him teein off on Abraham while hes i his shell like defence and i dont think Abraham would get past Pavliks reach, i dont see Pavlik stopping Abraham, hes one tough SOB.
I think Abraham is more durable and one of his shots could very well shake Pavlik up... I think if its a KO Abraham wins it, if it goes the distance, Pavliks fight.
First, let me say that Pavlik and Abraham are definitely the best MWs right now and that this fight needs to happen. Much more important than Pavlik-Calzaghe, Pavlik Hopkins or Pavlik-Kessler. Abraham is a good fighter, but he has big flaws such as covering up too much and fighting in spurts, and even more blatant, he leaves himself terribly open after throwing punches. He's either fighting aggressive with no defense at all, throwing big punches and wild haymakers, or he's totally covering up by the ropes, letting his opponent unload on his (then tight) guard. I've seen many of his fights, it's always the same. Abraham has a very good coach, and I don't understand why they don't work on these flaws. Pavlik would capitalize on these flaws and hit Abraham with big shots after Abraham leaves himself open. Another thing, Pavlik has a jab, while Abraham hasn't. Pavlik has also much better stamina than Abraham. And Pavlik is in a whole different league than Miranda. Both are tough as nails SOBs and have a champion mentality, both are very confident and won't back down. They aren't afraid to trade and both have good punching power and good chins. This could well be a war, with Pavlik having the edge due to better overall skills and physical advantages. Abraham will come to win tho and have his moments, he will be game. Even tho both are big punchers, there's not going to be knockdowns, or at least no knockout, they are too tough. In the end, imo Pavlik is the best MW while Abraham is the 2nd best, so I'll say Pavlik wins by UD in a war.
Well, it seems that you haven´t seen enough of his fights. Abraham showed his jab often in the past against fighters who didn´t have a reach and size advantage over him. Against guys who are taller and have a reach advantage he´s just in counter punching mode and does nearly nothing else. He also only throws his haymakers when he has his opponents hurt to finisht them off or when there is no danger of getting countered. All the other time he throws straight punches like the one he put Miranda down for the first time. Also, Pavlik is not a counter-puncher. He won´t wait for Abraham to throw and than counter, he will be attacking AA with Abraham countering him. That are their styles. Additionally you are forgetting that Pavlik has a weak defense and at best an average chin. That are huge disadvantages when facing a good counter-puncher with huge power and good finishing ability like Abraham. Pavliok´s style plays in AA´s cards in many ways but it´s also the other way round. That´s what makes this fight so close and when a fight is that close i normally go with the guy with the punch over the chinny guy - like i did with the Cotto-Margo fight :hey
