That`s not how Wilder fights, he only backs off when he`s trying to lure onto shots, he`s always looking for the KO.
He got the Ko with the uppercut https://i.imgur.com/kN5bEFL.mp4 Problem was it took him 10 bloody rounds to throw one.
And no heavyweight fights like Deontay Wilder, he's unconventional, but his athleticism creates situations that heavyweights are not used to dealing with. He closes distance fast and often does it while creating an angle. He probably has a unique combination of speed, power, and stamina. In addition he seems to be extremely strong and he also seems to take punches well. When he loses it will be to someone who can match some of his physical gifts (Fury, Hrgovic, Dubois, Joyce, etc.) plus has something extra himself, it probably won't be to a guy like Frazier.
It's simple really, if Joe manages to avoid the bombs I think he decimates Wilders body and stops him after half way. I don't think Wilder with his conservative output would be comfortable having to fight for 3 minutes every round. There's no doubt though that Wilder can score a knockout here but has he got the skill? I'm not sure having to consistently punch down to Joe will give him the target he needs. I've never seen any hint of the long leading uppercut that Foreman did so much damage with. Regarding Frazier's chin, he took some absolute monster shots from Foreman, kept getting up and was stopped on his feet. It's not a given that Wilder is just going to bomb Joe out with just one or two shots if he connects cleanly, he'll have to nail Frazier to the canvas. All told I fancy Joe here.
I love how modern fighters are "unconventional" and "unique", but fighters from the past are unskilled and not properly trained. For example, Foreman isn't unique, he's "crude" and "small". Yet Wilder, who is the least versatile fighter of recent HW history (among elite fighters of course), is special and amazing. Even though he doesn't fight like "modern" fighter at all.
Joe starts swinging his ax in the second round and the wood chips from Wilders midsection start flying, then his tree topples to the mat in round 6.
Wilder really does not know I how to fight. Basic boxing skills are so far beyond him. Avoid his right and box smartly and he is very beatable.
What makes you think Frazier would avoid his right hand? With his come-forward style, he's almost certainly going to eat some hard punches in this matchup. How well he takes them is an open question imo.
1-2 from Wilder simply wouldn't work against prime Frazier, especially when the fighter is telegraphing the 1-2. Frazier head movement was great. If Frazier could make Ali miss tons of punches thrown in sophisticated combinations and also quick fisted well schooled pro fighters like Ellis and Mathis, a fighter as basic as Wilder would be target practice against Frazier with your fight plan. Ali defeated Frazier by combination punching. Basically throwing more punches than he could avoid. Also being tough enough to absorb the counter hooks Frazier repeatedly caught him with when he committed to his punches. A fighter as basic as Wilder best bet would be to use his height and physical strength, get leverage and push Frazier off balance the way Foreman did and hit him , tie him up and walk him back to the center of the ring when Frazier got to close. He simply doesn't have the skill level to do much else. A basic 1-2 Frazier would be able to slip and time . Far better fighters than Wilder skill wise tried to hit and run Frazier, and out maneuver him. Not one was successful. Not even Ali. Another attribute some miss on Frazier was his ability to cut off the ring, and set traps. He possibly the best in heavy history at cutting the ring off, and trapping his opponents.
Is he really that evasive, or Wilder doesn't possess the ability to to cut the ring off, and force Fury to go where he wanted him to go?
Fury`s movement is very hard to predict and he keeps the fight long while threatening to steal points with counters, he slipped shots brilliantly in that bout.
