Joe wouldn't need to take the punch, Joe would see that telegraphed big right hand a mile away.

So Frazier can take Foreman's hardest punches and keep getting up but can't take Wilder's?

Seek n destroy guys like Joe and Tyson are bad match -ups for Wilder. If you box Wilder you give him a higher chance of finding the opportunity to land his right hand. Swarm him and take him out early with speed and power is key to victory:smile:

Frazier got knocked down eight times and was stopped twice in two fights by Foreman.

How in the hell did Frazier take Foreman's hardest punches? Frazier ATE Foreman's hardest punches in two fights and got knocked out in both fights.

And I don't think he "takes" Wilder's punches any better.

He was not knocked out cold which was a respectable feat in his own. Not to mention he was also the only Foreman victim to in his first career to make it to the 5th round without having been knocked down.

There is a difference between getting hit and getting hit clean. Joe got hit mostly in the arms and shoulders. Rolled with most of what he couldn't duck or parry. It's not a sin to get hit on the inside, everybody gets hit when you fight that style. If you want to make pasta you are going to get some sauce on the apron. Duran and Armstrong got hit. But it was rare any of these men got hit twice in a row. That is the mark of good defense for a swarming fighter.

You brought up Stander in the first place. Only reason I posted the clip. So every can see for themselves what ever point you were trying to illustrate.

No Wilder doesn't fight like that because it would be suicide to fight like that with Joe. The real question here is can Deontay do what he needs to to prevent the fight from looking like that? I don't believe he can. You keep equating Wilder with Hearns and that is just not accurate. They're tall fast and hit hard. That all. Hearns was a miles better combination puncher, miles better counter puncher, ring craft, foot work. A better analogy would be Wilder fights like if Fresh out of the amatures Lennox Lewis decided to fight like Max Baer. Or a scaled up Bob Foster.

Foreman dropped Frazier with a right uppercut. Bonavena and Ramos dropped Frazier with a straight right. Ali rocked Frazier with straight rights. Machen hurt Frazier with a left hook.

Yo what's with these personal attacks? Not cool man. Ali did outbox Frazier. He outboxed Frazier in the first half of their first fight. He obviously started gassing midway and Frazier took over. But he was tagging Frazier in the early rounds. Second fight, Ali came out dancing and outboxed Frazier in the first half. When Frazier got close, Ali clinched. Frazier picked up in the second half but it wasn't enough. I think it's safe to say Ali outboxed Frazier in the 2nd fight. Both were washed up in the 3rd fight and that was no boxing match.

Mathis, Ellis, Bonavena, Quarry, Ramos, Machen all landed punches against Frazier. Frazier stopped them all (except Bonavena) but none of them hit as hard as Wilder. Frazier could be hit and Wilder doesn't need to hit you clean to hurt you. Wilder will touch Frazier and I don't think Frazier's chin will hold up. And Wilder only needs one punch.

What set up the KO in the Foreman fight? You mentioned it a couple of times but I don't think I follow.

By that same logic wouldn't Fraizer KO Wilder because he could drop Muhammad Ali
And anyway that was a very green Joe. Frazier peaked in 71 against Ali.
    He was. Watch the FOTC.
That was never Frazier's strategy. His plan was to get under his opponents arms and fight inside, Wilder's horrendous defence, footwork and jab would have Joe do this with ease.
    Try Muhammad Ali...
Hearns set all of his right hands up with his ATG jab, his right hands were straight, and non telegraphed. Wilder doesn't have the technical skill, fluidity and accuracy to redo that.
Wilder struggled with Duhaupas movement and defence and failed to drop him. He'd be completely outclassed on the inside against Joe.

He was past his prime for the 1st Foreman fight and absolutely shot by the second.

Not only that but Foreman fights nothing like Wilder, and whilst you debate his chin and power it's undeniable Foreman is physically stronger.

Nothing is impossible, but still generally not advisable. More of a knock on Wilder than anything IMO. He gets out boxed often. But because of his power he has a lot more leeway than most.

Wilder essentially knocks out everyone with combinations. Most people miss the jab before the right hand, because he throws both in combination so fast. Watch the Breazeale KO. Most people missed the jab until they saw the slow motion replay.

And you can't do that if your feet aren't in proper position.

The Wilder-Baer comparisons need to stop. Baer was sloppy as hell. Wilder is the most efficient KO artist the heavyweight division may have ever produced. Everyone Wilder has faced as a pro he's either knocked down or knocked out (or both).

Frazier would make him cry. Eats him up in three or four rounds tops. I sort of think Wilder sucks.

Great point on the jab. Wilder's decoy jab is a very underrated weapon because no one seems to notice it. People were shitting on Breazeale after Wilder knocked him out saying he just stood there with his chin up. No great KO. But Wilder set him up with a decoy jab. There's a video that shows the fight from an aerial view

    .

Wilder kept touching Breazeale with his jab the entire round. When he threw the final 1-2, Wilder didn't even touch Breazeale with the jab. It was only there to distract him. Breazeale couldn't make a read and tried to counter leaving himself open for that vicious right hand. If Wilder threw a normal jab where he extends his arm properly and follows through, he might not have landed the right hand. The decoy jab helped him beat Breazeale to the punch. Good stuff Dubblechin.
