Hearns was far sharper at welter than he was in the Rodan fight at 160.

If Hearns doesn't get Hank in the first 5 or 6 rounds then Armstrong grinds him up late just like Sugar Ray did.

He was overall, but he had more muscle & power + was even better when not so drained.
His was not so devastating against Leonard, but if he had some more muscle & they fought at a higher weight, I would have favored him.

Leonard had a great chin at welter.

    OK, but what about Armstrong?
Mainly do you not see that when so thin Hearns was not as good & powerful as when at least 154?
If they fought at a higher weight I would favor Hearns.
But even given swarmer vs. slugger dynamics *and* how Hearns was so skinny at 147, good as he was, I will take Armstrong.

But I could see how it might go otherwise.

I never saw Welter Hearns look slower, less powerful, less agile, and more sluggish than he looked here at Jr. Middle:

I feel like Hearns smokes him because of his speed and range.

However, if Armstrong can stay under those rights and stay in Hearns chest and get to that chin he has a chance but maaaaan does he have to come through some mean fire to get there

The Duran that faced Hearns was distracted, disinterested and ageing. He got caught.

And Tommy could certainly do the same against Hank. But i think there is more than a bit of room to get Tommy on the back foot and get broken down.

This is a pick em for me.

Duran was also clearly larger than Armstrong, let’s not forget. Hank weighed at or above the modern Welterweight limit exactly one time in his entire career.
