With the recent defeat of Thaxton against Romanov, does this change your view of how Khan vs Thaxton would unfold. Vote on what result would be most likely.
Khan is far superior but even the Thaxton we saw last night would not find it hard to land a couple of shots on Khan and if Khan has a poor chin he would be stopped. I like most people would really expect Khan to win and pretty convincingly but against Thaxton he could come undone. Last nights loss does not change my opinion on Thaxton's chances against Khan. Khan and Romanov are very different fighters and Romanovs style was always going to be awful for John.
I would have it like that but it is hard to compare Thaxton vs Romanov with any Khan fight. How would Thaxton have handled St Clair? Khan would be expected to win but until Khan fights a decent hard hitting opponent we do not know how the fight would play out. I really hope Khan fights Thaxton now, I think last nights fight would have brought a Khan vs Thaxton fight a lot closer than it has ever been before. The Thaxton of last night would be deemed easily beatable and Warren may want to get Khan a win against Thaxton the same way he got Khan a win against a shot Earl.
I still don't think the fight will happen. If Thaxton had won last night the pressure for the bout to happen would have been intense instead Khan will likely avoid both and beat a nobody for an alphabet title of some description. For what its worth I think he'd beat both but they'd be dangerous matches.
The St Clair that fought Khan with that minset would not have beaten anyone in the UK top ten. Fact- He came to survive not to win.
I doubt it will happen but I had even bigger doubts before last nights fight, At least now Thaxton looks like a Khan type of opponent :yep . The St Clair we saw that night was a joke and the Earl we saw in the Khan fight was shot, the rest have been soft punchers so Thaxton would have a punchers chance if little else.
dont get me wrong thaxton could blast out khan. thign is that he is pretty open to shots and when he does switch he switches in there distance. but he does have a nice mix of awkwardness and solidness and punch power.
Lol... dwilson you seriously have issues against Khan... This thread just proves it man.. lay off the guy for once man, in time we'll see whether there was any points in your doubts or not. For now, the benefit of the doubt should go to him, because he's yet to lose a match at the end of the day. After seeing thaxton lose yesterday, it made me glad that khan aint wasted his time to fight him. He's right to follow up to bigger matches that involve world titles against more worthy opponents.
When ever Khan is mentioned I feel a deep rage boil up inside me, a kind of un natural force making hate and spit vengance and wrath. A force so powerful I sometimes fall to sleep or blink. I rate Khan as a boxer but I deeply hate him and I can not change that. Thaxton has never been and will never be a good enough fighter to match it on the world stage, Khan can go onto to do alot more than just be a contender or a Commenwealth belt holder but even the Thaxton we saw last night is a far better opponent than any boxer Khan has ever faced. People talk about Khan going onto fight more worthy opponents but who do you really expect Khan to fight in the following months? Khan will more than likely fight a couple of faded soft punching lightweight in America before getting a title shot and if he does fight Casa or Nate before July what do you really expect him to do? Win? With his resume of hand picked opponents he has had very little chance to find out what to do when he faces guys like these.
In the past 12 months Thaxton has declined and Khan has improved , because of this I now fancy Khan to get the better of Thaxton . There is the chance Thaxton could stop him , but if Khan wins he wins in a manner that looks easy
I have forgotten the last time he had a good performance but that will not change my view that if he gets a chance to connect he could KO Khan. He could still KO most fighters but none too many would give him a chance, I believe against Khan he would get that chance.
