Who would win in a fight between Roman Gonzalez and Guillermo Rigondeaux if they were the same size?

Rigo, but I haven't seen Roman as much as Rigo so I could be a bit biased.

They can meet at 118 and we can see for ourselves, which is perfectly possible. Until then it's all apples oranges.

I think they'll end up fighting. Rigo is at most 5lb heavier than Gonzalez.

I strongly favor Rigo because his power is proven against larger fighters and his style is something unique that Gonzalez would need to adjust to. Gonzalez is excellent but his style is pretty textbook and not going to present any surprises to Rigo.

Gonzalez imo would need to apply dynamic pressure to get to Rigo. Slowly stalking him will not work, he would have to explode in and try to catch him at times.

Rigo could go down but I think he wins a pretty easy one.

Good question. My instincts favour Rigondeaux. Controlling the distance is a big factor, and I don't think anyone does it better than El Jackal. There seems to be an invisible magnet between himself and the opponent, pushing back as they press, pressing as they try to slip away.

Gonzalez is that rare breed of fighter who maintains good defences while hunting. This is the kind of dynamism needed to make a gun slinger like Guillermo sweat. However, while I can see that causing trouble, I don't believe it would secure victory.

With every fight we are reminded that Rigondeaux is a hurtful puncher. The straight left and uppercut are venomous shots. They put you on your heels, bust up your face, and indeed because it is Gonzalez's prerogative to get in Guillermo's face he is going to have to eat shots that will disturb his usual flow.

I don't think any man in the world around Rigondeaux's size can out-general him.
