Who would win Saul vs Manny at 154

Prime PAc would beat Canelo imo , but Canelo is a big dude with a big punch. I wouldn't feel safe picking against him against a smaller fighter, espeically a much smaller fighter.

 

Stylistic nightmare for Canelo. Takes far to many minutes of each round off and his defense ain't on that elite Mayweather/Whitaker level so he will definitely eat some serious leather. All Manny has to do is outwork him and cruise to an easy UD. Granted Manny will probably **** some more blood and get his eardrum busted again but he still wins.

 

Have to disagree. Trout is a huge JR MW. This is important. Not only that, but it was Trout's physicality and ranginess allowed him to get off when aggressive, and it wasn't like he was nearly all that effective, just active, and mostly from a distance. You make good points about Canelo, but he's a big JR MW and a very accurate counter-puncher. Not only can he punch but he can explode with accuracy. It's not going to be the same taking a right hand or left hook from Bradley or Marquez. It will be a terrible feeling. Pac leaves himself open and for all of Canelo's inexperience he is a accurate, powerful, explosive, and very big and strong. Heck, Canelo could probably out-box Pac adequately from a distance considering the sheer size difference. He's a much improved product since the Gomez fight.

I'm sort of glad you brought up the Bradley fight because Pac won but didn't dominant the guy. Scraping by Trout is not a sensational accomplishment, but Trout is much better than Bradley. Not P4P or relative to the weight but in general. Pac might not even be able to get by Trout (Different style dynamic, I admit). Bradley wouldn't even win a round against Trout. Margo's body-punches hurt Manny. Alvarez's is on another level as a puncher.

Did people miss how effective of a counter-puncher Canelo was? Guy is a superior operator than Trout when it comes to boxing and counter-punching. All Trout has on him is range and activity. It can't be a bad matchup because of his stamina. That makes nearly every matchup a bad matchup against any truly great fighter.

How does Pac react to the right hand that hit Trout. It's not like Canelo's going to have to be looking for Pac. He's going to be coming for him, but of course he's going to immediately force Pac to respect his power.

 

Honestly, I think manny was only pretending to be hurt by Marg to make the fight more exciting and not look like a one sided beat down.

 

Alvarez by ktFo. Alvarez's a skilled boxer puncher who's shown he can rise to the occision. Pacquiao looks great against his cherry picks.
