Based upon current popularity on this forum with 6 Threads with Braddock in the title, to 1 with Burns (yes, this one).... I am setting the odds 6-1 in favor of Braddock. Any takers? But seriously I have seen more Braddock posts this week than in the previous 2 years combined. What has caused this renewed passionate interest?
Because of the other threads, he's on people's minds so we make more threads about him. It happens all the time with various fighters.
The difficulty in rating Burns is we have very little leads on how well he would go with a half-decent fighter of Braddock's size but I'd favour Tommy too.
Burns. He had better skills, hit harder and faster hands. A decent chin, and pretty aggressive too. Braddock was not a defensive guy, didn't hit as hard and showed me nothing on film in terms of the ability to maul anyone, which might be his best advantage in this fight. Essentiality he was try hard journeyman, who went on a good run and caught an apathetic Max Bear at the perfect time. Baer looks like he's tanking it at times in the fight, and the 1930's had their share of problems with fixed fights. We'd see a good effort from both guys. One of the few heavyweight champion match up's I'd pick Burns to win.
