If you were a prime heavyweight contender and had to fight these guys, who would be the most intimidating for you? I don't think any of these guys is anything less than horrifying to get into a ring with but for me it would be.

    1) Foreman
    2) Tyson
    3) Liston
    4) Shavers
    5) Frazier

I know Earnie was the hardest hitting of the 4 according to most heavyweights but the first 3 guys on that list to me actually look like they enjoyed killing people as a past time activity. Frazier was a badass too, I recall watching a documentary where his sparring partners said they ****ed blood for a week after training.

But for some reason he doesn't scare me as bad as those first 3 guys do.

A young prime Foreman before the Ali fight.

Frightening man with power to KO a bear.

Even now, I'd rather spar GGG than a current George Foreman. Crazy power.

Even the current fat, old and out of shape Foreman or Tyson would KO 99% people of this forum in 30 seconds.

Tyson. When i were a kid and Tyson was in his prime i saw the fear in his opponants eyes before the fight even started while bravado was usually what was on show between opponants. Then ofcourse within a few mins it was clear to see why they were scared. He was like a caged animal let off the leash to demolish a man then back in his cage. He was scary.

I guess out of all of them it would be Shavers. Not because he hits the hardest, but because he had the least talent doing it.
Chances are he'll hurt you badly everywhere he punches and it might actually take a few rounds too until he hits you clean and he breaks your ankle hitting you on the chin.

With the others you know it will be over in seconds anyway and you'll just wake up later with a terrible headage.

I'd take old Foreman, and come to fight with a pair of running shoes

If I was an actual contender I wouldn't be afraid of any of them. You'd have to believe in yourself.
If I was just some C-level "opponent" journeyman pro then you'd know deep down your chances are slim and none.

Sonny Liston and Joe Frazier are the scariest.

Who was the most intimidating heavyweight?

It depends on the point in time of their career.

There were periods when Foreman, Tyson and Liston were as intimidating as any man in the history of the world.

    It's between those three.

Tyson was a classic symbol of the eighties, so of course as soon as 1990 arrived, Tyson got knocked out.

From that list, I would most fear Tyson. He had power but also great handspeed, footspeed and defense.

Yeah, because Tyson would really need his defence against you.
