Johnson esp if you’re using 1900 rules. Also Sam Langford same thing. Maybe Harry Wills Joe Jeanette George Godfrey. Prime Jack Dempsey might stand a chance though the precedent of their 2 fights isn’t encouraging. Prime Schmeling has a chance as does Braddock. I ll assume Baer will be outboxed and Gene would be too good for the guys before Johnson.

 

He beat Greb 3 of 5 and 1 draw. Greb only won the first one so Tunney established he was better.

Some of the decisions were controversial, and the reason that there were five fights, was that it took five to resolve it to everybody's satisfaction.

Also the series took place over a period where Greb was declining, and Tunney was improving.

 

Tunney got the decision in their 2nd fight, which was widely reported to be a robbery. A correct decision would have made them 2-2-1.

Furthermore, Greb was passed prime by the end of their series, though Tunney was also getting bigger.

The Greb from their 1st contest vs the bigger Tunney from their 5th would be anyone's guess.

 

Spot-on analysis! Johnson would have around a 20-25 pound weight advantage combined with exceptional technical skills--too much for Tunney to overcome.

 

It depends which versions you select, but for my money best vs best they'd be similar in weight and were similar in height, both being around 6ft/6ft 1ins.

For my money I'd choose Tunney from around the Dempsey and Heeney fights for a HW contest, when he was around 190lbs-192lbs.

I'd choose Johnson from the Burns fight at the latest. That was a month short of his 31st birthday and the last fight at his absolute peak, imo. He weighed 194lbs.

 

Greb seems to have won their fourth fight by the accounts of hometown reports as well.
