    I’d go with Joe Walcott.

Seems revered and has an average career with a short, late peak and basically kept getting handed title shots due to his mob connections until he finally won one … then got KTFO twice and retired.

He’s pretty to watch but how many rate him head to head is nuts.

For his time this was true and the right answer, but he has been exposed hard.

He got old and met a better, more physically gifted foil who ruined him.

I will stand by the estimation that Wilder is among a handful, a small handful, of the greatest punchers who ever populated the heavyweight division.

Oh, carry on, my diminutive IROC driving, faux gold crucifix wearing, Drakkar Noir fuming Italophile friend. Let the world hear your bellow.

Actually, his back injury was from before boxing, his chronic cut was from a headbutt in an early fight, and the nose was a freak thing. It is a testiment to how awesome he was that he made it as far as he did.

When did Wilder have a back injury, chronic cut and freak nose problem? You make me confused.

Wilder was the right answer but Liston and Holmes as always, as they are consistently ranked even as hihg as number #2 by some around there with records that in no way support it.

I’m not sure you could be overrated if you became HW champ…you’re the man who beat the man means at one point you were the best on the planet. Anything that happens after is meaningless as most lose their desire to fight because they reached the highest point and are rich.

Not a fighter perse but Sonny Liston's power is overrated. His ko to win percentage is about 75 percent, right there with Larry Holmes, but peopl;e talk like he was in the Earnie Shavers-Foreman-Tyson league.

It was very good but not in that league.

I dont see any of the champions as being really overrated. Tommy Morrison...maybe
