I honestly don't see monzon winning.

Probably only SRR or Jones Jr.

I think Hopkins would do it.

I get the idea that Greb would probably outwork him.

I was assuming we were talking 77 - 83 Hagler which was why I said I'd favour SRR only. The guy ( Robinson ) had it all, including the ability to adapt his game plan in the ring.

How am I the only one to mention McCallum? I don't see a path to victory for Harger because just like Hopkins he's bigger than Hagler and a better boxer than Hagler with an absolutely elite chin

Harry Greb, SRR, Carlos Monzon, and SRL since he did get a debatable win over him. Mickey Walker might be able to get a upset here but I wouldn't favor him like the first four. Who knows in a finish fight Stanley Ketchel might out last him and get the KO if his chin is stable. Did Ketchel ever he ever get knocked out by a middleweight? However, in a 12 or 15 he gets out boxed easily though.

MM is definitely one of my top 3 favourite fighters. I just don't think he has enough speed to outbox Hagler, and I don't see him having the power to discourage the incredibly strong and durable Marvin.

Prime Hagler was a beast at 160. I always like to give the benefit of the doubt to fighters who have shared the ring with common opponents, and a few days before Hagler / Sibson I was talking to Alan Minter and asked him for his thoughts.

He just replied " put your house on Hagler, the guy is in a different league to both Tony and me "

SRR stands a chance but he never fought a middleweight as good as Hagler. By the time SRR got to middleweight he was starting to struggle with good middleweights let alone great ones. 3-2 SRR

Monzon beat some very good middleweights he beats Hagler only if MMH fights his fight and is passive. Hagler turns it into a war I think he can outpoint him if he tries to box him he loses. EVEN

Freddie Steele like Monzon can win if Hagler turns it into a war he can beat him. EVEN

Ketchel had serious power but had a warrior mentality like he did with Johnson he will play with fire and get into Haglers zone. 3-2 Hagler

If what the old timers and fighters of the day say is true then Greb would work Hagler over with higher energy, intensity and workrate Hagler had a good workrate but he was steady unless he smelled blood. 3-2 Greb

RJJ what Greb had in devilish workrate RJJ had in sheer ability, IMHO the most talented fighter to ever hold the title he had speed, timing, accuracy and instinct like no other no KO. 3-2 RJJ

Nunn outside of Jones had a good of a package as an ATG as any....on his game he had everything he needed to out box Hagler but IMO if Toney stops him in 11 no way he beats Hagler. 3-2 Hagler

Toney has the chin, power and ability of an ATG but at middle but I can't see an elusive master like Toney setting traps or outworking Hagler. 3-2 Hagler

GGG an ATG in the making he needs someone great to challenge him before I pick him over an ATG like Hagler, probably the only other fighter that switch stepped as he threw punches on the level of Marvin. 3-2 Hagler

Hagler's weakness was always Hagler, he had this bad habit of trying to beat fighters at their own game and get out of his, he should have dominated Duran but went into cruise control and fought Durans style, he did the same with Antuofermo I, Leonard and a few others

If anything speed/power/chin are equal but McCallum was a smarter and much more consistent boxer, he's also much bigger.

You have got the chin part right, but that is ALL. Don't confuse taller with bigger.

    Power. Hagler
    Speed. Hagler
    Consistency. Hagler
    Smarter. Even
    Build. Hagler

McCallum was much bigger to even question that shows a lack of knowledge.

Consistency is Hagler's primary issue, show me a fight where McCallum sabotages himself like Hagler did when he starts coasting incorrectly thinking he had the fight won like Hagler did in his first fight with Vito?
