Who would you favor to be Hearns at 147-154 over the last 15 years?

On a good night Floyd can beat just about anybody. Don't kid yourselves. He is the quintessential master boxer of this generation. People that bet against him don't know enough about boxing.

Floyd doesn't fight in the traditional style that most fighters do which is both hands up, shoulders squared, behind a jab, looking to set up right hands.

Floyd's style is his own. His stance and defensive techniques are made to counter the traditional "up and down" style.

If someone gets in the ring with him and is using that traditional "up and down" style most fighters use they are already at a HUGE disadvantage.

If you don't understand that, then you really don't know boxing.

I agree, I think Mike is one guy who may have a good chance at beating Hearns in that timeframe. I didn't read through all the posts, and he wasn't listed in the choices. I honestly forgot about the body snatcher.

To give myself an excuse/oops I forgot, Mike is out of the last 15 year range I believe.

    Good one.

Hearns would have crushed all the guys you listed. He is a nightmare stylistically.

Difference being Floyd is a great fighter that's stretched to make welter, and has limited power at that weight.

Hearns is a great fighter that God only knows how he made welter, fought at world class level at light heavy, and was a killer at welter.

Hearns was anything but an 'up and down fighter'. Has 6 inches height advantage, more in reach advantage, enormous power advantage, and in terms of speed, isn't at a huge disadvantage. Hearns could box as well as anybody as well, even without KO power he would have been world class.

I don't see Floyd having enough aces to win this one.

No fighter since a prime McCallum would have beaten Hearns below middleweight. No one
