Taylor hasn't beaten anybody decent without the help of HBO-paid judges.

Completely ****ing meaningless - he might as well give Manfredo a rematch.

Fighting Taylor would make him look exceptionally stupid, bearing mind Taylor ran like a ***** from Froch.

A win over Jermain Taylor at 170 means more than a win over Carl Froch at 170...

I believe he will retire but if he were to fight anyone I hope it would be Froch so he can shut the big mouth up good and proper!

    He beat Hopkins twice fairly.

WW probably beat him, but it was a close fight. And it was Winky that refused the rematch.

Taylor is a good fighter, and it would be a decent name to add to Joe's record...but I do agree that Dawson or even Froch would be preferable...for various reasons.

Just read in the general that the rematch between Dawson and Tarver is on for March....meaning Joe would have to meet Chad in like June or something....

Even less likely to happen now IMO, despite HBO getting Dawson on a two fight deal....

I felt Hopkins had him twice, but fair enough - both fights were close.

Wright beat him without question - but in typical form demanded too much money and walked away from the rematch.

Yep, I love Winky but he really is a bit like JMM that way: he think's he's a bigger star than he is when the truth is, he's a hugely dangerous proposition for anyone and not a particularly lucrative one in comparison to others!

More from the front page regarding B-Hop.

Bernard Hopkins is the best possible opponent that Calzaghe could fight to start off the New Year. Both boxers are at the latter stages of their careers. Calzaghe won the first boxing match by a razor close split decision. There were plenty of people including one of the judges that thought Bernard Hopkins won the fight. A rematch between them would finally decide which boxer is better. But, sadly it’s probably not going to happen because Calzaghe is still angry with Hopkins. Calzaghe still has immense dislike of Hopkins because of some of the things he said leading up to the first match. Calzaghe said "He's a complete idiot. I don't want to give him a rematch They way he fought in Las Vegas was cowardly because he held all night and pretended to be hit by low blows. He tried to steal the fight."

That has to be favourite now.

'Retire' in January then fight the winner in July.

    I've always rated Dawson.

I saw him on the Joe v Lacy undercard. However if Joe has anything left(and he does) he schools the heir to the throne.

But I hope Joe does whats best for himself if he wants to fight fair play. If not I hope he enjoys his retirement.

He should retire, his record of never losing obviously means a lot to him. Doesn't matter who he beats someone will always come along and be dubbed the next big thing. He should either state he's going for Marciano's record or just quit.

To be honest I'm bored with him threatening to quit after every fight.

Dawson... just because it is a real competitive live fight... he's good but not that good - boxing is struggling.

The fact is that he would probably one of, if not, Joe's most live opponents ever! He's a greater challenge then Kessler imo, and Hopkins was recently defeated twice and 43 years old when Calzaghe took him on. Joe was a VERY clear favourite to beat Hopkins going into that fight - he had a real fright in the end.

Think about it, it would possibly be Joe's riskiest ever challenge, and yet we see all these posts saying Dawson is "not proven" or "not worthy of a fight".

If he retires fair enough, but if he fights again it has to be Dawson - anything else is a cop out, imo - Especially after him taking the joke of a "pension fight" against Jones.

Having said that, if he did fight again, I'd honestly be surprised if he took on Dawson...
