I see what you mean but personally I don't think a 44 year old Bernard has the stamina to deal with Joe's constant barrage. Hopkins immediately had a two round head start by knocking Joe down last time out, and still lost. I doubt he'd manage to get such a handicap again.

Personally I'd take Bernard to win if he was younger but at 43/44 he will be beaten by busier fighters such as Joe, and even Taylor. He's by no means shot but his age can be exploited by the guys with the skills to do it.

Yeah, i guess Dawson is the better choice, but a lot of people are clamouring for that b-hop rematch

Hopkins and Kessler are the best actual opponents on the list, which is why I still think retirement is the correct option, as we've already been there. I've no desire to see either Calzaghe or Hopkins in another fight against each other. Whilst their ability to each neutralise each others strengths is impressive on some level, it don't eactly make a spectacle.

Woods would be horrifically bad, Johnson and Tarver essentially pointless, Froch or Bute have done nothing to merit such a match. I suppose you can make a case for Taylor, but it doesn't exite me that much.

So, if there were to be another fight, I'd say Dawson. But that's as much on the basis of him being that latest American hypefad and it would be funny to see the reaction when he got clowned, as on the merits of the fight itself.

Also to point out that the thread title and the poll question are completely different. My previous post answered the question in the title, but I voted in line with the poll question, hence Kessler.

We have seen Joe take care of both Kessler and Hopkins already, and so, going by that, I would have to say Dawson would be the best match-up.

Kessler and Hopkins are more proven and could conceivably be the harder fight to take, but Dawson hasn't fought Calzaghe yet and is still a bit of an unknown; his skillset appears so different to Jeff Lacy's that we shouldn't need to worry about another walk over for Joe.

A win against Dawson does more for Joe's resume than a rematch or a fight with anyone else on the list posted. You think that Dawson is being hyped-up at the moment, just wait until the week approaching fight night with Calzaghe; I think everyone would be intrigued by this fight; it would end up being massive.

    Chad Dawson.

but he will retire. the only fight I think he could take is francis, provided he beats Erdei. an all-UK fight with a proper title, the lineal and ring 'championships', bad blood between the two, easy sell out crowd in Cardiff, for an easy-ish but probably fun fight to watch with which to say goodbye...

Hasn't Francis not pulled out of that fight?

I heard he said it was too short notice and that he wouldn't be able to lose the weight in time.

Lots of things wrong with this, not least that Francis v Erdei isn't happening.

    Dawson, failing that Kessler.

I don't want to see Hopkins cheating his way to a close loss again. That really is water under the bridge, there is nothing Hopkins can do to turn that fight in his favour and it was really really boring.

That was the reason? The fight was announced in October and due in January, how much does he weigh?!

Has it been cancelled? Didn't know that. I don't see what's wrong with it otherwise - though Francis did say he trained at Enzo's gym in the past couple of years

No-one, he should retire, although if he does all the Yanks will say he did it to avoid having to fight Dawson
