Mosley rematch woul be the best choice. I'd also like to see Cotto against the winner of Pacquaio-Hatton.
Top Rank hasn't been doing their best work lately - which is why they brought in Jennings. They're taking no chances with this one. Here, look how Cotto describes Jennings: "Hes a defensive fighter with a (unintelligible) style. And hes a guy like (Urkal), like (Branco), that kind of fighter." That doesn't sound good to me as a tactically minded fan. It doesn't matter how this or that Jennings is; if he's a defensive fighter he has very little chance of beating Cotto. Top Rank knows the score. Clearly.
Agreed, but Cotto may want to fight Mosley if he wants that opportunity. Mosley has been slotted as Pacquiao's next possible opponent if Manny gets past Ricky according to Freddie Roach. If Cotto wants the winner of that fight he would be best served to try to get there going through Mosley. That might be the only chance of it happening.
Shane isn't getting any younger remember.I think if the rematch is going to happen it should be a unification straight off the Jennings fight should he win that. That would be a big fight
Patience my friend. As much as I like Miguel, I'd really have to see if the hunter will not be the hunted. If all systems go and we see that Cotto is indeed truly back, the speed, timing, power, conditioning, stamina, threshold, etc., then I would safely change my answer to Shane, but I'm not really one to jump into that bandwagon just yet, even though it would be on top of my list. Remember Vargas-Rivera, right after Tito-Vargas? If Jennings is not really known, it's for a reason, but he still should not be underestimated by any means. Even though Berto is not in Mosley's league, he would present a serious challenge to any welterweight and I see him as a work in progress and no cake walk. What I am almost sure is Cotto-Berto would be entertaining.
Would like to see him fight Clottey. Similar style to Margarito, so would be interesting to see what Cotto's learned. Also Clottey deserves a big fecht.
Pacquaio, Hatton, Mosley, and Cotto can be mixed and matched in every way and make for excellent fights. If we can get a few of those matches I'd be happy.
Benny made a reference to Vargas/Rivera as well - it's a good reference. Jennings does indeed have a chance - a chance that will be much greater is he's reasonably durable and is willing to take the fight to Cotto from the opening bell onward. Thanks to our friends in the UK, none of us have seen Jennings because nobody uploaded any of his fights - so we're in the dark. Underestimated? Nah. A totally unknown quantity? Yes. Cotto/Berto could be extremely entertaining, I've had the same thought. You're on the ball.
True, agreed. Team Pacquiao is on the Mount Olympus march right now though. They just want the hottest most dangerous guys at the top with the most thermite. They wanted Margarito - Mosley took that spot. If Cotto wants in; he'll have to take it from Mosley based on the word of Freddie Roach. Right with you. Any of those fights work for me. :thumbsup
Clottey or Mosley are the only logical fights on that poll. Cotto would hammer both Cintron and Berto.
