..to get a better gauge on his current form, and is a realistic opponent..? No doubt he fancies himself in a big money fight vs a green Joshua, but at the same token, if that isnt a viable route - Id say hes pushing to climb the various rankings for a big cash out. A few ideal ooponents 1. Stiverne - big name, very winnable against the plodding ex champ. No.3 WBC - could set up a Wilder shot. No.2 WBC is Joshua. 2. Jennings - No 6 WBA. Risky fight - 50/50 even. Though would get Haye ranked well in WBA in order to target Browne-Chagaev winner. 3. IBF Vacant- Martin dubiously winning the Eliminator. Teper,Joshua and Takam make up the 2-5 IBF rankings. If Haye could take out Takam and Teper he would certainly be in the running to contend that. Teper now drugs scandal, Joshua vs Takam/Haye IBF Eliminator? 4. WBO champ Fury has business with Klitschko with Joshua and Parker sitting at No.2 and No.3 respectively, making their own cases for a shot - so that sanctioning body could be complicated for the next yr at least, although another reason the Joshua bout could be beneficial for Haye, but not visa versa. Joshua does not need Haye in terms of ranking, though will be MASSIVE in the uk.
Right now the IBF belt is there for the taking. So Haye is gonna fight anyone in the top 10 of that. Then he'll target Anthony Joshua and hope by then that Joshua is the champion. That is of course if Charles Martin is not protected from here on in.
Yeah, I guess they could set up an easy fight for Martin. Cant see Joshua in an IBF eliminator anytime soon. Parker at no.7 going the wbo route. Teper in drugs scandal. Might end up with something horrible like a Takam vs Cunningham eliminator. Martin beats the winner and holds belt hostage in the States.
Was thinking Scott, but he does nothing ranking wise, and Haye has made it clear he's looking for the big title shot(payday) Tarver gets him ranked in the WBA, so that's DEFINITLEY a viable opponent. Could then make a case vs Fury if he beats Wlad, Regular title will be winner Browne/Chagaev though maybe Oquendo has a case to have a shot, whom the winner wouldn't see too threatening anyway. Fury said he'd vacate if Haye becomes mandatory, though I rekon that could happen down the line if Haye looks like he's slowed in his next fights.
Maybe, but doesnt really sell in either country. Martin is unknown in the uk, Haye in the US?? Hmmm..Not convinced just yet. Good thinking though, and I guess he wants to self promote with this HAYEMAKER setup.
Just rekon he's targetting Fury - Title + massive payday, and if Tyson vacates hes got bragging rights there too. Thats why I'm going with the WBA route. Littered with bunnies, De Mori was 10 for crying out loud.;p Briggs at 4...its a mess. And the 'regular' is more than in reach. So he'd be technically 'champ' again. Bring that back to the UK and cash in with the HAYemaker promotions
David Haye is a win away from any titlist he chooses. Holding a title gives him more $$$, more leverage as to who and when he fights as well a greater legacy, which would be greatly improved upon were he to regain a version of the HW title. He should definitely target Arreola, Tarver, Cunningham, or Fres Oquendo. All guys highly, but artificially ranked in the ABCs. Also, being all Americans, it's puts Haye's name back into the global picture, gaining him MUCH NEEDED CREDIBILITY, since most maintain belief that he's merely looking to cash out domestically. :think
If Haye was a serious fighter, he'd want to avenge that humiliating Wlad loss. Haye should fight Wlad after Wlad loses the rematch to Fury. While he is waiting for that, he can fight that nobody who just won the IBF belt. But this is Haye we are talking about, so I expect him to challenge one of the 2 champs, sign for a fight then pull out with injuries, then make a 'comeback' against some nobody when he's 38.
I honestly dont think he's after Fury. I honestly believe him this time that it's NOT about $$$, but being a realist, it's gonna take 500K to get him in with even the lowliest of contenders.
at first I chuckled but honestly those arent bad matchups and a decent sized step up for haye before he steps into the new HW landscape. Id offer cunningham, arreola, and perhaps even tony thompson. I like a stiverne matchup too
