Who would you like to see Sergey Kovalev fight next?

Stevenson is a long, defensively oriented southpaw, who fights off the back foot and has excellent power in his left hand, and will catch people coming in with his right hook.

It's very hard to fight a long, defensive southpaw with power. Kovalev has a lot of ground to cover, especially considering Stevenson's stance, which makes it that much more difficult to get inside.

Kovalev may be a powerful, fundamentaly sound boxer, but he's not necessarily very explosive, at least not in the Sergio Martinez or Pacquaio sense of the word.

Those are two guys that have the explosiveness to make up the ground against taller fighters that fight defensively, that Kovalev may not have.

Don't let Sillakh fool you. The guy was open for a right hand because he's not the best fighter defensively. His entire defensive gameplan relied on his footwork.

And I will say Kovalev does have pretty quick feet for a big man, but I don't know if he's fast enough to cover enough ground, so to not get hit with Stevenson's left on the way in.

My point is, this could make Kovalev tentative. We already know Stevenson is going to be tentative.

So this could end up being a boring fight, with both fighters on the outside, but with Stevenson having the advantage.

 

Kovalev is a beast. And he isn't taking anything? This weight class better watch out!

I think Stevenson would take the fight he just wants the money to be right. He wants to fight guys like Hopkins or Froch because he knows the money will be right. He is 36 and hasn't made much money in the sport so I don't blame him for going after bigger money fights instead of Kovalev if he doesn't bring big money.

 

I would love to see Stevenson face Juergen braehmer.... Excellent option :/

 

Well, he wasn't a southpaw, and he fought with his head straight up in the air.

Kovalev can put his punches together, and I think Stevenson's stamina is still a question mark, so I'm not saying Kovalev won't win, but from a stylistic perspective, I have to give Stevenson the nod.
