Who would you match James Degale with next?

Problem is, IMHO, that on paper DeGale has just dominated a world ranked top 10 super middleweight in his 9th fight.

People want a progression from that in his next fight (or the Groves "grudge" match) but Smith was never really up to his lofty ranking so if DeGale is pushed too hard on the back of that win then he could well come unstuck against a fighter who is genuinely world class.

Warrens not daft, he'll see that Smith win for what it was and keep the reins on DeGale a while longer.

I didn't push it rib I actually said it.is as relevant as degale fighting Anderson or groves only IMO though. Skel is a big fat Internet bully

 

They shouldn't push him so fast. Problem is he has made that initial step up in his 9th fight. Perhaps a little too early? Now if he takes 2 or 3 easier fights he will get crap and accused of cherry picking. Given the ease with which he won, some people will be calling for another big step up. This makes for some trouble. Move him along at the right pace and gradually get him there (around the 19-20th fight world title fight perhaps).

Very impressed with his movement, ring generalship, and overall skills for a guy who has had 9 pro fights. He needs to improve on that punching technique though. Sometimes he tends to slap a little bit, and he needs to sit down properly on some of those punches. But those small things will improve with more fights.
