Barrera doesn`t beat fmj at 130, don`t be ridiculous.

Chavez was a fantastic ring general, he was a very complete fighter, extremely smart & great employing different styles, though he definitely preferred the `cutting off the ring, pressure, lets make it rough` type fight.

You badly underrate Chavez intelligence, he`s a greater fighter than fmj & beats him H2H.

Chavez' style was not perfect for beating Floyd. He had all kinds of trouble with good boxers. I don't see him beating Mayweather.

You know what the examples are. Maybe "all kinds of trouble" is an exaggeration, but he definitely had his problems. And out of those guys, Pea is the only one near Floyd's level (unless you count Oscar) and he beat Chavez.

Nah, Mayweather could adjust on the fly as good as any fighter ever. He also has a pretty decent size advantage over Chavez. Mayweather is a sizeable 130 lb'er. He'd keep Chavez at a distance and work the jab and lead hooks all night to take a decision.

Those looking at the first Castillo fight fail to understand how ****ing huge Castillo is and Mayweather was basically one-armed in that fight.

PBF is a better ring general than Chavez could ever dream to be. Although Chavez could cut off the ring he wouldn't be able to do it effectively against PBF at 130 who had some of the best lateral movement in the history of the sport. The guy could fight 15 sticking and moving at that weight. PBF would beat Chavez to the punch all night and be gone. He would land the cleaner and harder blows frustrating Chavez and beating him by a clear UD. Chavez isn't going to outbox PBF nor is he going to KO him how does he win?

PBF is bad match up for Chavez. Bigger longer faster smarter and more complete. Chavez had hell with Taylor now imagine a bigger smarter Taylor with better skills and defense and that would PBF. PBF beats any version of Chavez.

His uncle had pretty much that same advantage, and look how that turned out. I don't Floyd has the tools to keep Chavez at distance, best case scenario he'd manage to move a lot and maybe stay out of trouble for the first few rounds of the fight. But Julio has good defense, nice power and is a great body puncher. Also, he's smart, patient and would have no trouble chasing Floyd around the ring.

I'd take Chavez by a KO/TKO in the later rounds, giving Floyd a brutal beating.

Near Floyds level? How about a level above.

What tricky propositions has Floyd even needed to adjust against? The skill level of most of his opponents has been downright basic.

People think it's that easy to catch PBF and just grind him down. PBF has some of the best stamina in the sport. Chavez would wear down himself from getting hit clean and having to chase PBF around the ring. A defensive counter puncher with speed and a high ring IQ is the hardest stylistic match up for any style historically. PBF is longer than Chavez and would catch him coming in. He can fight on the inside and still display good defense while doing so. Chavez isn't going to stop PBF so people need to quit with that. PBF is tough and he has good chin. Not to mention PBF is the best defensive fighter of this era Chavez isn't going to give him a brutal beating and it's ridiculous to even insist it. Chavez would be frustrated outsmarted and outboxed buy a master boxer.

Give me an elite defensive counter puncher over and elite pressure fighter any day. Offense sells tickets but defensive wins championships. More often than not the elite defensive counter puncher gives the elite pressure fighter a boxing lesson. People need to wake up from this fantasy land that Chavez would walk through PBF and stop him because it's not happening. This is boxing not a video game, skills pay the bills and PBF has more of them.
