If you had to pick a fighter to beat the two Klitchsko brothers and unify the titles from today in one fight after the otehr (within say 12 months), who would you pick and what tactics if any would you give them? I will need to think about it. I dont really like anyone's chances, but if taking a shot, I think i would consider tried and proven if older fighters. I think maybe a Valuev might give them a test they are not used to, A David Tua might be an outside chance if he lands big on them, I dont really like Hayes chances, but i do think that Adamek might cause some problems. I even think that Holyfield might do surprisingly well (though i am not really game to mention it), I dont really see enough in any of the younger fighters, although Povetkin does seem to be building a decent record and i might need a look at him. Before i make a decision on who to pick, i am interested in who others see as the best current hope to beat the giants.
Today there is noone. Haye I dont think is equipped to beat them. Tua would be too easy for both brothers to outbox. Vitali fights very tall and moves pretty good and Wlad is way too fast and would probably stop Tua at this point.
It's funny you should mention Tua, because he's had a shout ove that end just lately. But he's obviously not beating Vitali.
I know most say this, and it would be an upset, but there is always someone. I am interested in who you would give the best chance even if that is slight. I really think Hayes lowe front left hand is bad news and i cant see him beating either brother at the moment. Tua I am not so sure about. He has the power and the chin to make like difficult for both. He has better than zero chance, in fact, I think in a series of 3 fights against both brothers he would be a good chance of winning at least one. But there is such a question mark on how he has coped with age, and the problem is that i dont think he is likely to win too many on the trot against live contenders. He seems too inconsistent and vulnerable to losses on points. And without the contenders i think he is at risk of being underdone. What do you think of Valuev's chances. Not much of a fighter i know, but he has a good chin, solid credentials and does poes some stylistic difficulties for both brothers. I probably give him a better shot against Vitali, but he is not totally without chance against Wlad either. I think he would be a decent challenger for both.
Is Tyson a chance, i saw him on the WWE the other night and he let rip with some super fast combos, does the consensus think he might show up in form if he put his mind to it?
I think about this in the last couple of years , and I don't consider anyone a favorite against neither one of them. But forced to choose out of the existing crop : McCall was the the best for it just a couple of years ago had he just was not injured. He'd have got through Gomez and put Vitali to test. Valuev (again , until a few years ago) must be a good choice too out of the possible. Grant and Whitaker too , especially against Wlad. And Ibragimov deserves a shot at Vitali if he wants it . Brewster deserves a rubber match with Wladimir. And Arreola has a better chance against Wlad than he had against Vitali. And it took Vitali quite a while to dispose him. This question and fantasy fights as a whole should make people want rejuvenation research and introduction . Not to mention the mere desire to live. my Reason for Editing is : Wlad rematched Brewster when Brewster came back from injury. I am far from being an expert in that type of injury (detached retina surgery i believe) , but there is a good chance that Brewster's performance in the rematch was hindered as a result of the injury and it will be wrong to blame Brewster , as it is hard to refuse for big money and a title shot at the same time. And even if his loss has nothing to do with that injury , he still deserves a rubber match as they are 1(1):1(1) .
Too late now, but McCall is actually a very interesting choice. And how would that have effected his legacy, if he blew through the pair of them. I am not so sure about Brewster deserving the rubber match. He hasnt really had any decent wins at all, other than the Wlad upset. He has a good chin and a big punch, but i dont think he is in the same class and i cant see him getting lucky again.
Ok, if I had to pick someone maybe Holyfield to beat Vitali. Holyfield is the only active fighter that understands what it will take to beat either Klitschko. I know hes most likely not capable at this point, but he is the only one who I think would try and press the fight and try and take them out of their comfort zone. Everyone else tries to outbox them which isnt going to happen, and noone has the skills to beat them, and thats not praising their skills, just how pitiful the rest of the division. Valuev is just too slow and not very good. I think both brothers do a number on him. Haye I dont think has the guts to fight the right type of fight, and I think he tries to fight like he did against Valuev and gets beat one sided. Maybe James Toney has a chance if he can get himself into shape. There is just no skilled heavyweights that understand what it takes to beat these guys, and all these contenders go into the fight with the wrong gameplan and try and win a boxing match.
A fully rejuvenated GH'd roided James Toney in the best shape of his life does not stand a chance on either one. The interesting question is : could such version of Toney last the distance against any one of them ?
My point is it takes someone that has a boxing mind like those guys do, to understand how even to beat them. There is noone else out there that is equipped to adapt to whats needed to win the fight. There are no fighters or trainers with fighters that have the knowledge let alone the skills.
What do you think about Adamek? He is a good and decent fighter (or at least he was at light heavyweight). I havent seen the arreola fight yet, but it sounded like he might have shown a heavyweight chin. Do you think he might fit the bill, he does seem to be a fighter, and i dont think that he will slow down and wear out like most of the other fighters they have fought. I dont think he is good enough and i think he will probably just end up being pummelled like everyone else, but without watching the Areola fight, I am starting to think he might have the best chance of the 'younger unproven' fighters coming through.
