If it was up to me I would have him fight Yuri Romanov. If I was his manager though, I would be scratching my head as to what opponent Amir could learn from without getting butchered.

I think that Romanov would have been the logical step, but am not so sure now after 2nite.

Boggle-eyes should start reeling in the hype-machine a bit, because Khan is not ready for a world title tilt by the end of the year.

Frank Warren is producing so much smoke without any fire that it is laughable.

Thakton would be my bet for next fight.

But even that fight is probably unlikely now, given that Frank will probably run a mile from putting Khan in with with a guy who will actually come at Khan and want to win.

    Agreed.

I don't know where Khan goes from here. If he steps up in class, there's a good chance he'll get beat. But if he fights at domestic standard again, he learns nothing.

I think it's very important that Amir gets some very good sparring, this is the way he can learn without getting an L on his record.

I think Warren was winding it in a bit with his post fight comments, he looked a bit worried.

Sparring someone like Fewkes for the Gomez fight was stupid. He does need to fight with a few pressure fighters and work on his in-fighting.

I'm not saying I want him to fight him but after tonight it looks more of an option than say Romanov.

He'll fight a small African in a defence of his commonwealth crown, that'll buy him some time.

    Agree with this :good
I don't think Warren will care about him learning nothing for now though.
Milk him and let him sell out crowds for a while as the hype will still continue.

They can't throw him in against Romanov after that :tired

Stuck between a rock and a hard place really

Step up and there is a significant chance he gets starched. The only realistic step up at European level is Yuri Romanov, who has some serious pop. Uh oh

There is nothing at domestic level for him. They could put him in with Thaxton, but what would that prove? He's another thats shot and old and it barely counts as moving him on. This is what will probably happen if I put money on it

Or they can take him to America and try to get some decent competition and different styles there. Santa Cruz who arguably beat Casamayor? Edner Cherry? Raheem? They can all punch though, you don't find feather fists at the top level.

Nate Campbell, the guy is very beatable and it would get Khan a world title to cash in on before his chin lets him down. If he loses to Campbell then he's a 21 year old kid who's lost to a world champ and he'll get another chance. Win-win (nearly)
