Who would you put Lomachenko in with on his debut

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by War Lomachenko, Jul 20, 2013.

  1. there's absolutely no point waiting about with a talent like Lomachenko,
I'd put him in with some1 like John Molina, Andrey Klimov, Julio Diaz.
Theres no point putting Lomachenko in with boxers with losing records or journeyman, when the worlds elite amateur fighters such as Domenico Valentino could hardly land a glove on him in their recent fights.

He's a lightweight, right? Not really too much going on in the Lightweight division.. you can't feed someone to the lions in his pro debut though.. give him a while like Rigo did.

Ji hoon-Kim? Maybe on the slide a little so could be a perfect opponent like the thread starter said does lomachenko need to be given push overs in his first 5 fights? And he also boxed in the WSB so is used to no headgear and no vest already

No point putting him in with fighters he'll just steam roll.. as it's been mentioned he's been fighting without head gear and already has a pro style.

I imagine he'll follow the exact same route as Rigo.

Fetch him an easy-win guy like Emmanuel Lucero first. Lucero was never all that much and is on the slide now.

I'd like to see him face guys like Lucero, maybe a couple journeyman before stepping in with a guy like Archie Ray Marquez who'd test him on the level of fringe contention. Have him in with Ji-Hoon Kim next year after 5-6-7-8 fights.

What? No. Give him like 10-15 quick bums, build up a nice highlight reel and get the media and casual fans talking about him. Then move up in a co-main event on hbo or sho against a former titlist.

I know his team have said he'd love to face a champion in his debut. Even if that's unlikely to happen, the fact they're seriously considering this shows, not only the confidence they have in him but that they'd like to make a big impact with Loma.

I think going after someone like Kim is a serious possibility.

Kim would definitely come to fight but would make loma look a million dollars IMO

The media and casual fans are much more likely to talk about him if he were to take on someone like Molina in his pro debut. Taking the riskiest debut fight for x number of years would create an immediate buzz. No-one would care if he took on "10-15 bums" or had a highlight reel of ko'ing cab drivers.

They feel they want to do something special with Lomachenko and there's absolutely no point in him facing bums.

That'd be dumb to throw him in too quick especially against a pressure fighter. Let him build his way up to 12 rounders and then get a title shot which shouldn't take too long.

If you rush him too quick, he'll end up like a lot of prospects do. He'll blow away his opponent for 5 rounds and then gas out and ktfo

  11. lomachenko was a lightweight at the olympics and in the recent WSB , so hes moving down 2 divisions?? that's strange if true. Luke Campbell has moved up 4 divisions for his debut

Murata facing Shibata on debut is a pretty risky one.

I wouldn't want to put him in against anyone too big for his debut. A recognised name, but maybe someone on the downside of their career.

The casual fans are the ones who the broadcasters and promoters need to sell Loma to, not the boxing community who already know who he is.

For this he's gonna need to not just box the snot outta someone, but look exciting doing it. It might take a few fights to find out what sorta fighter shows him in the best light. If he wants to be a star as well as a great fighter this kinda **** can matter.

Building him up too much for a debut in which he might win, but fail to wow the casuals with a massive KO ain't gonna do him any favours. Move him fast, but not recklessly I'd say.

He needs to fight guys who are 5-10 then 5-5, before he moves on to guys who are 10-15. But he needs to fight only guys who've never been stopped.
