I think these boxers were around top 20 pound for pound about 15 years ago. I could have also listed Arthur Abraham and Vic Darchinyan.
I'd give Kessler the edge. At the point in time we're looking at, a lot of the big names on Ricky's record were pretty faded.
In hindsight…But Hatton was a huge underdog against Tyszu …..I was a lurker on this forum back then ….people were making lifetime ban bets against Hatton lol
I don't think he was big underdog, it was rather 2 -1, as Tszyu was two years out of the ring, only fought 3 rounds against Mitchel before, had some injuries previously (on his back) and they fought in the very early morning like 4 o'clock in Manchester; he didn't move abroad to win the title. Also had he his personal bodyguard in the ring, with that referee.
Tszyu had defended his title just7 months earlier against Mitchell. Dave Parris was the referee for the Tszyu v Hatton fight, the only one of Hatton's 5 world title fights for which he was the third man. Hatton was a big outsider in the betting odds. Box Rec. The hungry, but largely unproven Hatton came into the fight as a massive underdog against Tszyu, a dominant and feared champion. Try talking out of your mouth instead of the other end!
I know this, but you don't read carefull, as you rather come out like a ragging dog, with a watering mouth... I repead it for you; he fought only 3 rounds (actual less) in the previous two years, against Mitchel. The odds were 2 - 1 to 3 - 1 for Tszyu, but Hatton was more experienced in professional boxing than him already. Besides some trailhorses had he also half-decent opponent in his record (like Tackie, who challenged Tszyu too). Lewis was 5 to 1 favourite against Klitschko, Hide was it 4 to 1 and Peter also 3 to 1.
