Who would you rather see Marquez fight at this point?

Personally, I think he's lost a lot of steam past 130 and only his high ring IQ and power have let him accomplish his two lightweight championship wins against Casamayor and Diaz but I think he's too slow at these weights. Some still want him to fight Pac again. I personally scored the second Pac fight for Marquez 115/113 but I think at this stage, different story. I think Pac would hand him his first knockout loss, because he's maintained his speed, increased his power if anything and gotten better as a boxer. Now there's the supposed Hatton/Marquez fight we're getting. Hatton couldn't do less weight and Marquez has already signed on with Mayweather and done more, so I assume it's 140. I personally would rather see him get a last big name at the 135 mark and maybe retire. I'm a fan of his, by the way. Who would you rather see Marquez fight next, Hatton or...?

I think Valero would be a good win. Valero has never been up against anyone nearly as good as JMM and yet he's a two-weight class world champion, and it would be another title and it would be at as heavy as I think Marquez should be at.

I voted Pac because I think there is unfinished business there but it would have to be way lower than 145. Best case 135, 140 at most. I had JMM winning the 2nd fight 116-113(i think). Though, in fairness, i had Pac winning the 1st fight. Anyway, I'd like to see him fight Hatton as well. I think it would be a better barometer of his effectiveness after going up in weight than taking on the likes of PBF.

None of them matters except jmm. But enthusiasm for jmm 3fight has declined. he has no business with pac @ 140 up.

Hatton would be a good farewell fight for both men, even if it is at cruiserweight. It's a fight Marquez can definitely win and a good name to add to his resume. Pacquiao would be the most competitive but the intrest isn't there now. Any of the other lightweight champions are very winnable fights.

I voted for unification bout with Valero.

Pac is a reach at this point of his career. the guy has some bigger fish to fry.

I think he'll just lose to Hatton @ 140 coz of the same problem he have @ 140.

Guzman which I think will win against Funeka would be a snoozefest if they ever fought imo.

Valero is the one that only makes sense. This is a crowd-pleasing fight so it's PPV worthy and it'll also help for Valero's popularity if he wins this as JMM is on his way out.

True, it would help legitimize Valero if he won, even if JMM is looking poorly after the weight jump. But on the other hand, if JMM wins, that'd be a really nice finish to his great career. An undefeated champ with a 100% KO ratio. I'm sure he's made more than enough from the Mayweather fight to retire anyway. But it'd be nice to see a future HOF leave on a good win for good, for a change.

I wonder how well he can go back down to 135, if he can do it then that might be a good idea. I dont like him in with bigger guys taking a lot of hits. He is already old especially for a fighter at those weights.

I think he can beat Hatton at 140 there are just 2 issues with that.

    1. I think it will be more exciting if Hatton is coming off a win.

    2. Even though JMM has a good chance of beating Hatton he will take a lot of punishment in that fight, Look how many shots he took from Diaz until he made some adjustments midfight and stopped getting hit. Hatton is larger, faster and has more power than Diaz. I dont think his chin is as bad as people say so I think JMM will have to break him down and it could take a lot out of him doing so.

The Hatton fight would make him good money and probally be a win for him.

I can not understand why many people want to see JMM fight Hatton. IMO the outcome is almost 100% sure - JMM boxes Hatton's ears off.

I would rather see JMM fight Guzman or Valero so we all get to see what kind of fighters they are and if they can step up to the elite level.

At this point, vacating his titles and moving up to fight Ricky Hatton is the only logical choice.

I'm not completely sure Hatton is faster than Diaz, but he's got better foot work and I don't know about the chin either, now that I've seen Pac VS Cotto. Definitely Hatton has more power than Diaz in his punches but he doesn't throw all the punches Diaz does and that's where JMM looked in the most trouble. He wasn't fast enough to get off the punch numbers Diaz was putting up, even though he was able to make Diaz miss or graze with a lot of those punches and still, to me, landed most of the flush shots in that fight. I have no idea what Hatton has left. I wish he would take a lesser fight first. I like the guy. I don't want him getting hurt for life. And losing in these high profile fights after years of being undefeated must kill his ego. Especially both in knockouts.

I don't get it either. Why so many people are picking Hatton. I'm sure it'd be a nice pay day for both guys though. But like you say, I find it more interesting to see Valero or Guzman tested. They could surprise me. :good
