your opinion? even though cotto has only been training with diaz for a short time he seems to have done much better in those 3 months training for margarito. Although margarito had a sensitive eye, i believe he slowed down too but it comes with the territory, they moved up in weight. I could be wrong. Evangelista cotto seemed to do well although he didnt correct many of cottos mistakes as in squatting after getting nailed a couple times and then eating uppercuts in the first margarito fight. Stewart seemed to fix his bad habits but he didnt seem to match very well with cotto.
Cotto looked best on the inside and as a bodypunching pressure fighter under his uncle. He looked terrible with the incompetent Joe Santiago. Basically was training himself. He looked good with Steward in the Foreman fight and looked slow and far from sharp against Mayorga. So far with Diaz, he's looked technically better from the outside than he ever has imo. I like this guy a lot. He seems to communicate with Diaz well, and he has Cotto working very hard in camp it appears.
Diaz >>> I really wish he had been Cotto's trainer from the beggining. No doubt he would have given Cotto a similar gameplan in his first fight with Marg. Probably would have decisioned him impressively, and have been spared that beating. *Sigh* Oh well, cant change the past, so I suppose theres no point in dwelling in it.
