Both fighters are at the twilight of their careers and both are surely to be inducted at the HOF.

The remaining issue actually is how hight they would be regarded in terms of ATG ranking.

One thing has been proven, history is very kind to past fighters. Infact past fighters would always win or have a higher chance of winning in a hypothetical match-up against current crop of fighters.

As both of these fighters apparently represent the creme de la creme of today' fighters, just as Duran and SRL, or Robinson, Dempsey, Ali represented their era, who would you think History look in the kinder light.

Perfect example : Duran and SRL, Although SRL had a 2-1 record against Duran, he is highly regarded than SRL today and ranked higher. Could we say that Pac is the "duran" of today (aside from the beard and the goatee) and leonard is the "SRL" of today (do not equate their resumes).

I dont know they each have important moments coming up and may even fight i dont like ATG ranking guys til they are gone for 5 years and their opponents are too. It takes the shoick and awe of their career away. Lets you analyze objectivley

The way pac is dominating fighters you would have thought he had no business being anywhere near, I'd have to go with Pac.

Floyd? Who is gonna talk about him in 10 years time?

It depends on what happens in the even that they fight eachother. If Mayweather beats Mosley and Pac in impressive fashion, and then retires, there is no doubt in my mind that he'll be the more highly regarded fighter. Duran and Leonard fought eachother 3 times. Duran was not that highly regarded of a fighter in their 3rd fight. Duran was definately weight drained in their second fight. The first fight is in the only one where both were at their peaks and Duran won. Pac is ahead of Floyd right now, but not by much. If they fight eachother at the end of this year, Pac will be at the end of his peak and Floyd will be just outside of his prime. I can't see Mayweather retiring with an undefeated record and a win over a peak Pac and not being the more highly regarded fighter.

Foolish to think FMJ wont be talked about in 10 years. If they dont fight they can be remembered 2 selfish disappointments who dropped the ball on the biggest fight to be made

I am not talking about their resumes or their standing against each other literally but their stature later. There is a parenthesis after that tell it all.

As for the thread question, if they finished today then probably Pac. But they're not finished so who knows.

Mayweather has had a better career than Pacquiao. The real debate in 10 years will be between Mayweather and the Hopkins/Jones winner.

If they stop fighting right now, I mean right now, Pac edges it.

But it depends on how their careers end. Pac only has this coming fight (and another one possibly at the most), and Floyd might stay around and who knows should he get past Shane, might even call out Williams. But if they end up fighting each other, the guy who wins it will be regarded higher.
