Who would've given PBF a tougher fight? Cotto or Marg?

Margarito may not be able to track down floyd, but he has a better chance than Cotto does. Both fighters are flat footed, but Margo has a longer reach and more stamina and therefore I give him the edge out of the two in this department.

Yes Cotto was boxing Margo's ears off, but he wasn't having an effect and was delaying the inevitable, but boxing Margo's ears off and boxing Mayweather's off are two different things. No one is a better boxer than Floyd and no one is going to out box him. You have to out muscle him.

Cotto has some tenacity to go with his skills, but his defence is suspect and he isn't resilient enough to take Floyd's counters all night long. Margo is however, and could potentially give Floyd some trouble at times. I don't believe Cotto would trouble Floyd at all.

Floyd will through everything at Tony and he'll just keep coming. Cotto won't be able to weather the same storm. I don't think Margarito would beat Mayweather but he'd make him work more than Cotto would.

 

His pressure would be the thing here.Plus he is big.And I believe that's what they said about Castillo with Floyd....it didn't turn that way but Cotto would slightly present a more difficult stylistic match-up.

 

margo couldnt pressure cotto properly for the first 5-6 rounds when they fought....

cotto just got tired and couldnt last...

Cotto clearly, Margos one-dimensional pressure would be negated by PBFs great footwork. Cotto on the other hand has a much better overall skillset and can counter with the best

 

Mayweather wins every round but perhaps 2/3 against Marg and KOs Cotto late

 

Cotto due to the fact that Margo is too slow of both hand and foot and one-dimensional to beat a guy like PBF. He could stay on his bike for an easy UD win and there's nothing Margo could do to stop it. With Cotto he has a jab and applies more technical pressure. He would give PBF a better fight but he wouldn't beat him because of his lack of stamina, chin and the fact he makes too many rookie mistakes.

I feel that stylewise Cotto matches up better, and would give Floyd the tougher fight.

Mayweather had the legs to just get up on his bike and stay out of trouble while he pings Margarito en route to a wide points victory; I think that Cotto's more refined brand of educated pressure gives him a better chance; plus Cotto would be working at a pace that he would find more comfortable which was not the case in his fight with Margo.

Its a standard cliche around here, but styles do indeed make fights, and Cotto's style gives Mayweather more trouble.

Mayweather still beats both of them though.

 

Both have attributes that can give Floyd trouble - but I would suggest that Margarito would be better equipped.

Cotto has good skills, but nowhere near as good as Floyd. His chin is decent, but his stamina is questionable - stay away from the left hand (basically do the opposite of what Hopkins did with Pavlik) and Floyd would have a field day. Cotto would lose his composure and would most likely be stopped late.

Margarito can't really box as such, but has an insane ability to absorb punches and still be able to walk forward and throw bombs. De La Hoya pressured Mayweather for six rounds before tiring - Margo, whilst being neither as fast or accurate as DLH, won't run out of steam at all.

Either way, Floyd beats both.

That's key for a defensive counter-puncher like PBF. He would see those wide shots coming from mile away counter and be gone. Margo would be lost because he has to set his feet to throw and that won't work against PBF. PBF-Baldo all over again in a fight PBF gets criticized in becasue people will say he ran but in reality he gives Margo a boxing lesson.:deal

 

Good traps? Are you out of your ****ing mind? PBF is the ring general in this matchup not the other way around if anyone lays traps it's gonna be PBF. Margo setting traps against PBF.
