I know it is Carer's book and I know the story is that he wrote it but I"m curious who contributed and how much ? I first read it as a kid and then reread it years later. It is a terrific autobiography and I have a very hard time imagining a convict with a limited education wrote it .. any real knowledge on this ?

Carter wrote it. Of course an editor at a publisher would clean it up some.

It seems to me it would need a lot more than a clean up .. someone , somewhere helped him ..

I remember Carter being interviewed on TV when he filed his initial appeal. He was very well spoken and composed during that discussion. I believe he was granted an honorary doctorate for his charity work. Smart, but there's no doubt he had some editorial help.

I get all that but to write a book is a whole other process.

Of course. Still I’m sure there is more.
