Yes that’s it with Hurd, his win over Trout and Lara were based on taking their shots, walking em down and taking advantage later on when they gassed, not a bad tactic given Hurds size and strength but Charles a different animal who pulls his punches and sits down his shots. No way could I see even Hurd taking eight rounds of punishment off Charlo only to turn the tables. It’s a great fight though for both and if it happens I hope both guys get the respect they des
Charlo all day and twice on a Sunday. Hurds style whilst effective against light punchers it will play into a punchers hand and Charlo is sharp fast puncher.
Well Hurd said he is definitely fighting Charlo in 2019 so he will probably take care of his Mando in J rock then maybe fight Charlo mid next year.
I keep hearing this.... At first I was all thinking Hurd would walk down. Charlo the way he did trout and lara...then I saw w I notice they have no power. So it made me get back to reality . Hurd beat two great southpaw technicians not two great power punchers . those punches will be alot different coming from trout
Lara had a good shot of beating Hurd if he used his legs but he fought a very strange fight. Why would you stand in the pocket with a pressure fighter when your style is mainly outside boxing. Anyway I like Jarret Hurd I even have him p4p in terms of recent wins but unless he pulls out something out of his bag that we haven’t seen, this version of Hurd would lose to Charlo probably by stoppage imo.
He tried; but Hurd is better at cutting off the ring, getting to the body and dictating where the bout is fought in the second half of the fight. I think Charlo's power at 154 is a bit overrated; and people like Vanes have had success with pressuring him in the past. I've got Hurd doing what he normally does and surging late to win either via late stoppage or close decision.
He never really tried it’s like he realised Hurd was there to be hit and he just thought okay I can bang with this guy. Maybe he thought I can’t run from him so I’ll just stay in the pocket. You have to admit that Charlo is more aggressive and hits harder now than when he fought Vanes.
I think the bodywork that Hurd was doing contributed to Lara's decision to trade, especially over the second half. But look at who he's faced; Jackson, Lubin and Hatley were known to have issues with punch resistance. The next time he faced someone with decent punch resistance (Trout) he was taken the distance and struggled to hurt No Doubt. In contrast, Trout was busted up and getting hurt by JSH from the sixth round on.
Personally think people will be shocked at how small Charlo is in comparison to Hurd. I also think we will see the same weight bully accusations, which tbh is probably fair. Charlo has Koed some very chinny blokes and a child. He also doesn't appear to have much versatility when the going gets tough. Hurd is a pretty decent favourite imo and the Lara fight was a harder fight stylistically.
