    I suspect Golovkin did drop Kovalev in sparring, but you know what? It really means absolutely nothing at all. Anyone can be caught off-balance and Kovalev has also improved alot since then. Anyone using that to say Golovkin beats Kovalev is way off.

    Both Kovalev and Golovkin have a lot of respect for each other as friemds and fellow p4p talents and that's what really counts.

    Probably left for the typical reason; All trainer attention on Golovkin and none on Kovalev.
    As I recall, Kovalev wasn't with K2 either.
    Anyway, Kovalev's decision to abandon Sanchez and go with Jackson was as key as Mayweather's decision to dump Arum for Haymon.

    In the end, Kovalev not being connected with Sanchez and crippling K2 will have a far greater legacy than Golovkin.
