The narrative was set for sure, based around the drugs ban and Canelo being the bad guy. GGG is very popular in UK and they were only looking for the work he was doing. Even the first round I scored to Canelo, even though they were going on about this jab that GGG supposedly 'established'. Canelo was 3-0 up in the blink of an eye for me, same as last time. GGG started too damn slow once again. David Haye had it 7-5 to Canelo and cut through a lot of the BS.
116-113 Golovkin Quality match up, where both guys leave with their heads held high. A very underrated jab and sheer determination won GGG the fight for me. I don't want to see a 3 rd fight because I Golovkin is without doubt on the slide. Max Kellerman is a snake, he is the one ringside observer who would never lace the gloves up for a real fight.
Just throw this out there if they ever made a boxing film they'd have to get Jaime Foreman (Layer Cake) to play Chepo Reynoso.
I scored it 7-5 GGG, wouldn’t have grumbled too much at a draw. I honestly thought Golovkin would fade in championship rounds...instead, strangely he was knackered mid-rounds then finished brilliantly. Canelo did really well holding the centre of the ring but he copped a lot of jabs doing so and GGG actually boxed well on the back foot at times. Canelo landed some sweet shots but GGG started to land in bunches in championship rounds. Great fight but the result doesn’t sit well.
Spot on....Both fight were majorly pro GGG in commentary I thought Canelo clearly won 1st round and as they walk back to corner Barry Jones said ' Golovkin round'....i thought here we go again....it was as if they had bet on him heavily....i had same score as Haye
All I've seen is people going mad that he had Canelo up by two. I've got no problem with that and have no problem with GGG up by two either, some very close rounds.
At the end i would not have been surprised with another draw ....I thought Canelo won first fight more clearly, this time it seemed like he'd felt GGG power and wasnt scared at all and just stood and traded Mexican style...Barerra and Morales being ringside must have had a bit to do with that..... I dont think Canelo touched the ropes all night
Wow.... there’s 26 Canelo/GGG threads on the 1st page of the general forum.... I think I’ll keep away for a few weeks ha ha
I found it strange to see GGG blowing out his arse after five rounds, I won't lie I thought to myself has he got something wrong with him but he finished strong.
Me too. I thought ‘he’s finally past it’, but then he showed great heart and endurance to finish stronger against the younger fighter. He really is an ATG...they both are to be fair. Shame Canelo had to ruin his legacy with PEDs.
I actually thought some sort of mysterious illness had hit GGG over night or something because he looked in distress between rounds, you never know with team canelo and their underhand tactics.
I thought GGG won by 2 rounds. Thought early on he looked a little old, caught between between styles. Got better as fight went on, showed terrific boxing skills and will to win. Ironically i dont think he has been same fighter since Kell Brook fought him (still believe he took alot more punishment in that fight than he made out).
