cotto has the better chance in this fight, about 70 against 30, but ill be rooting for margarito. many people have just counting margarito out, i'll be with the mexicans on this one
Margarito late TKO or close UD. One thing is for sure though. It will be a bloody, tough war of attrition.
Do you think Cotto's chin is weak? I don't think his chin is china but it he's no Erik Morales. What type of gameplan do you envision Cotto using?
Two factors I am considering on why Margo will take this one: His terrific beard and toughness is just unbelieveble. Cotto is the type of fighter who thrives on putting hurt on his opponents and breaking them down as the fight progressess, but since Margarito IMO is one of the toughest and hardened fighters right now, possessing superb chin, he can probably withstand the early onslaught and at the same time, dish his own brand of punishment, which would lead me to the second factor. His relentless pressure will force Cotto to fight him in a brawl and this will be Cotto's mistake. Margarito's size and length is perfect for his style, especially against smaller guys. Cotto might try to box him but eventually, he will be forced by Margarito to swap bombs and it is not always a good idea to trade haymakers against someone who can take your best shots. I honestly see this fight as 50-50, but I am leaning more on Margarito to pull an upset (atleast here in ESB where Cotto is the favorite). Lastly,I think Cotto has a good chin, but compare it to the Tijuana Tornado's absurd beard, it looks fragile.:yep Whos your pick BTW?
I pick Margarito to knock out Miguel Cotto. I have seen lots of fights from both figthers and Cotto hasnt faced a dangerous opponent like Margo in his carrer. On the other hand Margo has fight bigger, stronger guys and i have to say Margo is hungry.....he will expose Cotto.
This fight reminds me of Pavlik-Miranda: fighters whose only means of getting a victory is by attrition. Both Cotto and Margarito use brute strength to wear down their opponents. Now, it simply boils down on who can take and dish the punishment better. And as much as I like to view Cotto improving as a boxer, in this fight, I don't think it will be much of a big factor.
