I think its the technique as well, he never had proper technique and have the same fighting style as Wand in that he swings wide and wild. Shogun had power though and when he hit Jones in the couple of times he hit him, Jones didnt een noticed he got hit.
That's a ridiculous comment. Shogun is a Muay Thai master, his array of kicks, knees and punches is one of the most potent offensive arsenals ever seen in MMA. It makes me vomit when people start spewing this ****ing **** after a great fighter cops one bad defeat. Rua got written off after Griffin and proved everyone wrong, and he's going to do the same all over again. He may not beat Jones, who is a phenom, but their rematch will be unrecognizable from the first one.
All we heard about leading up to the fight was how Shogun was 100%, he was fit, he was ready. I believe someone from his corner even came out and said after the fight that Shogun was fit and healthy coming into the fight, but he got caught with some huge shots early and then he blew his load trying to sweep Jones from the bottom (I don't have a link to the interview if anyone else cares to post it). What exactly do you think Shogun will be bringing to a rematch that'd give him a better chance of winning?
i read this thread on sherdog (i know you think im a troll now for being on sherdog) and it showed something that was rather interesting at least for me and that was that Shogun got hit by Jones flying knee at the same place vitor got hit by Silvas kick in the start of the fight. I don't know why people ignore the fact that Silva had a rib injury going into the fight, it would've have been a very different fight otherwise.
I usually agreed with your posts but a bum like Lutter took Silva down with a pinky tackle numerous times. Can you explain this? An objective post would have been "Silva is a great fighter, one of the greatest strikers of all time but his takedown defense is weak and would have problems with wrestlers who have a good top game".
My choice would be Anderson Silva. He would give Jones a run for his money, because he is a very elusive striker. He could lure Jones into fighting his fight and throw Jones off his game. Personally I think for anyone to win against Jones, they will have to take away his legs.
Anderson Silva would probably be the toughest test. I also like machida's style but i like silva's striking better. I think he would give jones all he can handle. I actuallly like silva in this fight. I could see the spider beating mr nice guy if they ever fight.
Shogun's layoff was nothing out of the ordinary, Jones is just too strong and too fast for any LHW right now. If anyone has a chance it is Silva, but you have to like Jones' chances of taking him down. Jones' reach will also be a huge challenge for Silva. I am of the opinion that Jones will be the next emporor at heavy.
I think it wouldve been very different as he wouldve been moving, striking better and therefore hurting sonnen on the way in and then being more active on the ground but his takedown defence is VERY WEAK for someone of his level
Seriously? If Silva couldn't deal with Sonnen's takedowns nor reverse position or escape, how is he going to deal with another wrestler that's bigger, faster, stronger and more explosive than Sonnen, with much much more lethal GnP???
