Who'd have the better chance of winning: HOPKINS (v Hagler) or MAYWEATHER (v Sweet P)

    Who would you give the greater chance of winning between HOPKINS and MAYWEATHER in this hypothetical double-bill:



    BERNARD HOPKINS (the version who stopped Echols in 2000 and beat Trinidad in 2001)

    vs

    Marvin Hagler (who beat Minter in 1980 and Sibson in 1983)



    or



    FLOYD MAYWEATHER (who beat Castillo in the rematch in 2002 and N'Dou in 2003)

    vs

    Pernell Whitaker (who beat Haugen in 1989 and Nelson in 1990)




    Please vote and explain who you would give the greater chance of success between Hopkins and Mayweather.

    Bernard Hopkins has an excellent chance against Hagler, close to 50.50 that one for me.

    Mayweather should not be favoured against Whitaker, so for me the choice is easy - I see Whitaker as a clean favourite.

    To say neither one has a chance is ******ed. But I could definitely see Hopkins beating Hagler more than I could Floyd beating Whitaker.

    Hopkins-Hagler is a pretty much a 50-50 fight.

    Whereas I'd favor Sweet Pea over Floyd by close decision,

    Yeah i'd say Hopkins i reckon . Just a damn awkward fighter for anyone. I'd still have Hagler as favorite though.

    I picked Mayweather because I in general think he'd beat Sweet Pea! I wonder why you picked those versions of the fighter?:huh

    Hopkins has a better chance at victory than Floyd.....Sweat Pea could do a lot more things in the ring than Marvin and would be harder for Floyd to figure out

    Pretty even actually.

    I would think Hagler starts as favourite against Hopkins, but as 'Nard could take his shots it would be interesting to see how he dealt with the awkwardness.

    Whitaker and Floyd are pretty similar, both great technicians in defence and attack, one subtle, the other flashy. Key for me is that Floyd is more 'judge-friendly' for some reason.

    I'd fancy Hopkins to beat Hagler and I'd fancy Whitaker to beat Mayweather, so it's an easy choice for me too, but I thought I'd make the thread as my mate thinks the opposite - he takes Hagler and Mayweather to win.

    I would say Floyd only because if he fought a defensive fight he may be able to keep Sweet Pea at bay long enough to pull out a close decision. I dont think Hopkins would hold up to Haglers offense for 15 rounds, or even 12.

    No way does hopkins beat Hagler
    Mayweather has a better chance against Sweet Pea, but still doesnt win.
