Duran almost beat Hagler by boxing from the outside. Floyd could do pretty much the same thing. And if Hagler didnt rush Duran, why do you feel he would do it with Floyd? Floyd is better at fighting off the back foot than Roberto and would cause even more problems for Marvelous in tracking him down. Again, Hagler did not look his best against fighters that fought off the back foot and could control the distance.

Mayweather has no advantages that would play out against Sweet Pea. They are two of my all-time favorite fighters, and this would be a stylistic nightmare for Floyd.

At least with Hagler there is prior bouts that suggest Floyd may have a shot to edge it out, whereas with Sweet Pea, nothing I've seen leads me to believe that to be a winnable fight for Floyd. He'd have a better shot at both Duran and Hagler due to styles.

    Never seen Hagler hurt.

Watched him walk through Hearn's best shots.

To think power had anything to do with the way Hagler fought Duran is idiotic.

Assuming that you know Hagler like he's your twin brother, and are able to disect exactly what was going on his mind is equally idiotic.

But considering many say that Margarito would give Mayweather a difficult time at welterweight, what makes you think that Hagler wouldn't easily deal with Mayweather at 160?

Aside from which, Duran wasn't scared of anyone and proved it by fighting everyone from SRL, to Hearns, to Hagler, to Barkley and didn't have a style similiar to Floyd's at all.

****, maybe Hagler was confident enough that he felt he could win by boxing.

Have you ever seen the Hagler-Duran bout? Because Duran fought nothing like you are suggesting. He boxed COMPLETELY from the outside and looked nothing like the Roberto from 135 or 147.

Also listen to Hagler's corner during the bout that you must have missed. They were not as confident as you suggest Hagler would have been.

Margarito would only trouble Floyd due to his height and length. Margarito is 3 inches taller than Hagler. And on a side note, I don't think that Margarito would trouble Floyd more than 3 rounds in a 12 round bout.

    Ok...

First off, Mayweather has nothing to fear from Sweet Pea's power. Zero. Mayweather is physically stronger so he can and would walk Sweet Pea down. With all of his awesome defense, Sweet Pea would be facing the most accurate puncher in the business and would not do enough to effectively keep Mayweather off of him. Eventually, he'll get tagged and tagged enough to keep him from throwing a lot of punches himself.

Pea is barely faster than Mayweather. Both are phenomena defensively but very different stylistically. This defensive style difference will be the tipping point for Mayweather. Sweet Pea's defense takes him out of position to counter with any power, while Mayweather's defense places him in position to be both defensive and offensive.

So again, Mayweather will be able to eventually start tagging Sweet Pea without fear of being hurt in return. He'll begin to connect with Sweet Pea and win rounds in the process.

The first 4 rounds I see Sweet Pea winning. All the other rounds will go to Mayweather.

I prefer fighter's own trainers stats to boxrec's.

    Stay on topic.

    But thanks for playing.

Hopkins-Hagler basically a 50/50 fight, and I slightly favor Hopkins.

I struggle to see how Floyd pulls off the win over Whitaker. He'd make it competitive, but I can't see him winning the fight.

I would slightly favour both Pea & Hagler to win on points in close fights but I think Mayweather has a better chance vs Whitaker because of the hard to score chess match that I believe they would have.

Hopkins hasnt fought anyone as good as Hagler & won, Hagler fought the better fighters more often, numerous different styles & only came unstuck vs Leonard - who I rank above hopkins for sure - & that was MMHs last ever fight.

I think Hagler beats Hopkins by a bigger margin than Pea does Mayweather.

    Zab Judah
    A fast southpaw

Those who think Mayweather would have zero chance of beating Whitaker are out of their tiny minds, I myself favour Whitaker in a VERY close fight, a fight that could easily go to Mayweather who is faster, stronger & not so sloppy in the skills department either.

ESB rates Pernell extremely high in general (rightly so) but FMJ is hated & that can cloud judgement, it clouded my own for yrs, Ive actually given up hating Floyd, he is a wonderfull fighter capable of great things, as is Whitaker.
