PBF vs Pernell, thats the tougher than Hopkins vs Hagler.

That's because Floyd was generally not in any 'fixed fights'.

I've seen'em dawg and yea there a few fighters he has walked down but he ain't gonna be able to do that to Whitaker. Whitaker does just about everything better than Floyd except punching power, but Sweet Pea's chin is world class. Whitaker is a bad matchup for anyone even Floyd.

I agree Whitaker is a very tough task for PBF, but PBF's chin is world class

To Tettsuo and yourself Bill - where has this seemingly generally accepted truth came from that Mayweather is physically stronger than Whitaker??

Where is the evidence for this?

Whitaker's diminutive stature and often defensive stance fool people into thinking he wasn't strong as an ox - but he certainly was.

Whitaker looked every bit as strong as Chavez in their fight, he looked every bit as strong as natural welter and p4p#5 Buddy McGirt in their fight, he was not bullied by either the much larger Julio Cesar Vasquez or a prime Oscar De La Hoya even when he was getting on in years. Physical strength is a crucially underrated aspect of Whitaker's game.

Who did Mayweather prove his physical strength against that was as big or powerful as Chavez, McGirt, De La Hoya and Vasquez? Mayweather did not look physically imposing against a well past-prime Oscar, and he struggled to match up to Jose Luis Castillo down at light.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Whitaker was far stronger, but what I am saying is that I don't see the evidence for highlighting physical strength as a factor in this fight. If pushed, I'd say Whitaker was marginally stronger, but that the difference between him and Mayweather is so slight that it's not of critical importance.

What would be of critical importance is that peak Whitaker has faster hands, better skills and combinations, better variety and a better defence. The only result I can see is a convincing Whitaker victory at 135.

Are you kidding me? PBF-Pea is a closer fight than Pea-Chavez. There's alot of ATG matchups that would be blowouts and this is not one of them.

Pea vs Chazev was only a close fight on the cards!

I'm not sure if Hopkins has ever dealt with someone as equal in power as Hagler...Hagler was a monster...I'd fancy Hagler to take it.

Whitaker wasn't quite offensively open...Mayweather during that period was...I think Mayweather takes it.

Pea-Chavez wasn't close at all, I think I had a 118-110 scorecard or something like that. I have trouble seeing Mayweather win a round v Whitaker, and I'm not saying that because I think Whitaker is light years ahead of him, I don't view this as a Pavlik v Lockett type of mismatch, not at all, I just see this as a HORRIBLE stylistic match for PBF.
