Right now Rigondeaux is cuba's pride, joy and darling, by far the boxer they celebrate and trust the most. Cuban fans have been hyping Rigo to high heaven for years and they seem to be sure of his invincibility, P4P greatness and ATG status, despite the fact he has barely done **** in the pros and a SD over past prime B level Cordoba is his greatest achievement so far.

Well, all that hype will come crashing down this saturday because Rigo will get KO'd by Donaire

My question is, who'll replace Rigo as Cuba's darling if this happens? who'll carry the cuban pride and biggest expectations from now on? or it'll still be Rigo somehow?

It should have always been Gamboa imo, dude is extremely talented and actually proven against top opposition unlike certain others, he also knows how to put on a show. Too bad he's been taking too many stupid career decissions lately. He might be packing a fragile mandible but hey, nobody's perfect

Lara and Gamboa are already ahead of Rigo in terms of being Cuba's premier fighters.

Not when it comes to hype and expectations, I dont see any cuban fans saying Gamboa or Lara are GOAT/ P4P#1/ most skilled fighter ever/on pair with Floyd etc

Maybe his trainer diaz will want to step up, he seems to be taking a lot of shine off rigo as far as photo opportunities go

i dont think cubans jump from a sinking ship, they support their fighters always.
Cant say the same about some other nationalities jumping ships after their idol got brutally KO, sounds familiar?

I thought Gamboa was Cuba's pride. But when Rigondeaux, who beat Gamboa in the ams, became on top, some cocksuckers jumped ship.

    WAR GAMBOA!!!

The media has been promotion Gamboa for a long time, just like they have been promoting Rigo and Solis. Solis was supposed to be the best heavyweight in boxing history, but Vitali knocked him out with a right hook to the temple in the very first round!!!!!!!
