Whom are you supporting, Son of God or Bad Chad?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Dece Bal, Sep 7, 2012.

  1. i asked because i understand that we see things in completely different ways than other countries. yes i know ward is mixed, but by american standards, he is considered "black". he talks just like, carries himself, and was raised around blacks(Oakland) and along with whites. seems like an authentic dude. so me personally i wouldnt be offended(at least not in a racial way) but i would be offended because i'd feel that he's testing my manhood.

it's like this, would u call a white guy from New York that called a southern white guy a redneck? us americans love some good ol trash talk. guess other countries are sensitive about that type of stuff. :conf

Guys, I didn't intend for this thread to become a discussion about that comment or about racism.

This is a great, great fight. For people who are into boxing and who know a bit of boxing, it's a huge fight - one of the best of the year!

    Let's get up for this!

I wish both fighters put on a great performance. That is the main thing. Doesn't really matter who wins or if it's a robbery.

Yeah, I see your point, but I don't think it's quite the same. Perhaps Dawson wasn't offended for issues to do with race, and maybe he wasn't offended at all, but that still doesn't make the comment right, in my view, even in the context of playing mind-games and getting under your charge's opponent's skin.

If I was Protestant, I wouldn't call a Catholic a supporter of paedophilia, say. That would be wrong.

  4. i see what u mean. dont get me wrong, a black calling another black dude a "slave" or a house negro is very BAD. probably one of the most f'd up things to say to one another. it's pretty much equivalent to calling eachother a b*tch.

so i understand why that comment bothered some people. it won't be seen as racist in america coming from the same people, but it's definately still offensive.
i was actually shocked to see Dawson not respond or get heated about it. he kept his composure and brushed it off. those are serious fighting words no matter who's mouth it comes out of.

If Hunter or Ward were walking behind a white lady she would still cluch her purse. If they were at a skinhead convention. They would still be called ******s.

My point is, whatever you call him at least consistent about it.

Seeing as how Ward hasn't been involved with any robberies, I think it's reckless to just assume there will be one.

Whatever happens, I hope it's not close just so people can stop talking about robberies in Oakland. You would think they were talking about Texas.

  8. agreed. and Rumsfeld's article kind of reminded me about how much Dawson has been thru to get to this point. originally i was 100% for Ward(still am rooting for him) but i'd be fine with Dawson pulling off the upset.

Did you watch Ward vs Bika? Did you see the scores? Was that fair scoring?

That wasn't fair scoring at all. But in that case the right man won. So it wasn't a robbery.

On Occaisions like this when I don't like either fighter I generally hope for an upset, just because supporting the underdogs more fun. Obviously, fighting in the other guys hometown, starving himself down to a weight he hasn't been for years, that's Dawson in this fight.

this is a fight for boxers. both guys carry themselves well. good luck to both. I think that dawson is the best fighter ward has faced. I'm not sure i can say the same vice versa. head says ward UD. Heart says ward SD!!

Bad Chad Dawson. At least he doesn't hugs opponents so much doesn't smother them as much as "Jesus". Also didn't liked the fact that Ward say's something today "the winner of the super six must fight Bute" and something else tomorrow, something like Bute wasn't worth to step in the ring with his holiness... but Bika and Green were. Also forcing fighters more established(Kessler/Dawson) than him to fight away and with less money doesn't looks ok in my eyes.
