Hi Guys, I'm 49 Kg. 159cms tall. Started to learn boxing since this June. Been sparring for about 4 months now. Most or all of my sparring partners are taller and belong to higher weight class. I would say that I have never have had a sparring session with another flyweight Since too short my Coach always ask me to move closer/inside to the partner and fight. Sometimes I move in, hit a left-right and come out without taking a clean hit. But those unfortunate time, one clear hit brings me down which also makes me loose my confidence. What do you guys think? What should I do. I recently got a punch on my eye and I'm suffering for more than 4 days now. This happened with a guy who is atleast 15 cms taller and would be 60+kg in weight. I slipped his jab went close but got caught by a right hand.
Dude, don't expect to spar and not get hit, its part of the game. I can't tell you in detail what to do but all you gotta do is get more footwork and become smarter, footwork shouldn't be extremely hard and intellegence easily comes with experience so the more you spar the better you become
I had that problem too. I held my own with the bigger sparring partners, but got my ass kicked by the smaller ones because I wasn't allowed to hit them hard. Maybe you should speak with your trainer so that he instructs your sparring partners to help you out and not hurt you.
Yea, ask your opponents not to hit too hard. Tell them if they do hit too hard because this is sparring not Sparta. you arn't meant to come out of sparring with a bunch of bruises and ****ed up ****.
