Pavlik never offered Joe a fight???? Arum offered $10 million. Pavlik said, "Calzaghe is the guy I want." Warren wanted the fight. Pavlik wanted the fight. Arum wanted it. HBO wanted it. Joe hid behind a version of Roy Jones that Joe himself said "Used to be a good fighter, but he isn't a good fighter now."

Try a little historical reality for a moment. Just fast forward to 6:45.

I did not go off topic. You claimed Pavlik ducked Calzaghe. History shows otherwise. I am begining to doubt your legitimacy as a boxing fan. You don't seem to have any facts on hand. All of your answers have been opinions that anyone who actually follows the sport can easily refute. You asked for a link, but I'm not here to do research on subjects I am already familiar with. Virtually every member of this forum knows the Pavlik/Calzaghe/Jones history. How come you don't?

funny thing those rematch clauses joe...you kinda have to fight the guy again if he invokes it.

and i am pretty sure he mentioned joe after the lockett fight. i may be thinking of a different post fight interview but i was pretty sure it was after lockett when he asked the crowd if they wanted to see him fight calzaghe.

it was a business decision for joe. fighting rjj made more sense $$$ he wasnt scared of pav but he did sorta start this by "congratulating" him after the jt fight and "inviting" him up to fight him only to see the writing on the wall that money-wise, another direction made more sense.

    1. A lot of mandatories were in the way, no objections.

    2. How is anybody supposed to know how much was offered unless that person took part in the negotiations? Do you know how much was offered? Didn't Dan Rafeal put most of the blame for the fight not happening on Arum? This is not to say that this is definately the case but rather than none of us knows. You want to fend of the claim that KP ducked AA but on the ground of some hearsay claim the opposite. Does not make much sense.

    3. see 2. Do you know? Can you show us a copy of the contract? Unless you can this point is really moot.

    4. A title holder going the route of mandatories even though the goal is to unify titles? When he can make more money defending the title in Germany instead of going back on the rough mandatory route for no apparent reason? When he knows that he only has 1-2 fights left in the division due to problems making the weight? Is there really so much money in this fight, when it is not an unification and AA is not known in America? Is KP THAT big of a draw?
When was actually the last time a champ has done something like this? Does this point really make sense for an established belt holder, who has been holding his title longer than KP?
So I ask you, is there any way you can defend this point?

    5. I have seen you using this argument a few times already and honestly it just demonstrates that you are not aware of the whole situation.
    (a) Kohl and Sauerland have been bitter rivals over several decades know, they are competing over the same market and there is no love lost whatsoever. Nobody would ever admit that they are the reason that the fight is not happening.
    (b) Sturm-AA would have been a HUGH fight in Germany, much bigger than AA-KP. KP is not known in Germany, not at all. He is "the American title holder" and it totally interchangeable in the eyes of the german public. His fights are not shown here or reported.
(c)The whole disput accompanying the Sturm-AA negotiations was widely covered by all big daily newspapers. It was big in terms of sport. So Sauerland did not simply throw it out there on the internet like you seem to have perceived it, but also releasing it through the news circle and therefore creating not only more attention but also putting PRESSURE on Kohl and hurting his reputation.
Now I am asking you, if Sauerland would have released contract offers on the internet (which he has never done before until then), what would have happened? Would any bigger American newspaper cared much if "unknown AA" has given a fair offer to KP? Would the New York Times or US Today or even some major Ohio paper sacrafied a whole page to print that contract? The truth is, you just don't put details about the way you do business out there unless you are sure that this will have a big effect. With Sturm-AA and all the attention it got, it was sure to happen, with AA-KP fighting in 2 different markets and only being known in their respective market, this was not going to have much of an effect. I am asking you, if Sauerland had published the contract work and it would have turned out to be fair, would this had made a AA-KP clash any more likely in case Arum wanted to look into another direction? You can only "shame" someone into a fight, if you have the audience for that.

Ok, so I anwered your questions. Will you reply to this or elect to stay away, that is my question I have for you?

It's indeed ironic that you would quote those particlar statements. Most members of this forum and most journalist found Calzaghe's claims to be ludricrous.

Joe says he offered Pav a fight in 2006. Are you honestly going to beleive that he offered Pavlik a fight at a time when KP was recovering from career threatening hand surgery, and Fulgencio Zuniga was his best win? In 2008 Joe claimed Pavlik was just trying to make a name for himself, but in 2006 he was good enough for a shot. How much sense does that make? When Ring had KP at P4P #7 in the world, he wasn't a big enough name for Joe, but in 2006 when he was an unkown prospect he was?:patsch

Joe says Kelly rematched Taylor to avoid him! What a ****ing joke. Has Joe ever heard of a mandatory rematch clause? I bet he has.

Last year when Joe was talking all this bull****, even the worst Calzombies sided with KP. I guess I shouldn't expect you to know that, since you just started following boxing last week.

Pavlik would most likely loose to all of them. I doubt at this point Kelly could beat Taylor. It looks a lot to me like Pavlik is on a big downhill slide. After loosing as badly as he did to Hopkins I doubt he can come back to the same lever he was. He seems to refuse to take any match up that would put him in harms way. He will fight a few scrubs to try stay in the game but the end is near for Pavlik.
